You have been nominated as the Member of the Month for June 2012!!!
What got you started with your love for Chevy and the Camaro?
When I was 10 or 12 years old one of my uncles had a 71 Camaro and another had a 68 Firebird 400. My dad and his buddies always had fast cars and pick up trucks in the driveway.
While growing up in Midwest City Oklahoma the car bug bit me pretty hard and I still suffer from that bite I got many years ago. My dad traded in a 69 396 Chevy pick up for my first car a 1972 Chevy Monte Carlo. While my dad worked the trade I was really looking across Air Depot Blvd at what was Camaro Corners, I guess you can tell what they sold.
My dad made the trade and the Monte was mine to cruise the strip looking for the right young lady or a group of buddies to hang out with.
I finally purchased a used 1982 Z/28 in early 1984 and I kept it until 1987.
Whats the Story Behind your 5thgen Camaro?
My wife and I were reading the newspaper and having coffee when she said to me if we were to buy a new car what would it be ?
A Mustang GT ? No, I had a few 5.0s after I sold the 82 Z/28 so I wanted something else.
How about the Challenger ? I would only consider the SRT8 but the cost of the SRT8 for the horsepower so that was a no.
And the Camaro ? She said, Well I love the new look the Camaro has but it has to be the 2SS/RS car. We finished our coffee and out the door we went and by noon of September 11 2010, We signed the paperwork on our Red Jewel Tint 2011 Camaro 2SS/RS.
How did you come across ModernCamaro.com and what made you stick around?
After purchasing the Camaro I began to surf the sites looking for info on the car. I found the members of ModernCamaro to be helpful when it came to items they purchased.
How did the Camaro or Chevy in general change your life?
After purchasing the car I received a PM from Sopmod about a Camaro show he was helping out with at the same dealer I purchased my car from. The show was held on September 11 2011. We walked away from one hell of a show but saying see you on the forums. Walking away was never an option a week later Sopmod, Artful Dodger,Pace Car Charlie,Edgar3 and myself went for a cruise. As we stood there in the parking lot of a fast food parking lot in Howell NJ, South Jersey Camaro Club came to life and today we are right at 100 family members.
Finally do you have anything you’d like to say to ModernCamaro.com members or anyone else reading this interview?
In July of 2010 we lost my 14 year old daughter to a brain stem glioma tumor, she passed away 9 months after we discovered the cancer.
Our club President my Brother Sopmod presented to me at one of our meetings he wanted to help keep Kathyrnes memory alive by naming our clubs " Kids Choice" award "The Kathyrne Minchey Kids Choice" and we will award the trophy at each of our shows.
I want to Thank my brothers and sisters of the South Jersey Camaro Club for honoring me with being their brother, because without each and everyone of them it would be just another day.
I would also like to say Thank you to the Maryland Camaro Club for allowing the South Jersey Camaro Club to hand out the Kathyrne Minchey Kids Choice award during the Camaro Nationals.
Thank for the nomination and the votes it was a very close race and my hat is off to Jhiiidoc and Guapo you deserve to win the title as well.
