But your right it will be done when it comes out just like the GTO/Chevelle project..
And what do you mean numbers/letters are not as known as names..
Everyone knows what a CTS is
Heck IROC-Z is letters for a longer word but you know what it is
and the long stand out.."Hey what kinda car you drive"
"I drive a Z28" nuff said People know Z28..even though its not the name of the car..no matter what it is its only a name of importance if its a car that deleivers..Look at GTO..same thing with the letters. when the GTO came back and everyone said its not a GTO it took the hits and lived up to its name, actually more so than that..
When the G8 hits the streets people will know what a G8 is.

But do you think the potential Firebird folks would actually buy it?
Dirtfarmer has a point. That'd cost a pretty penny, I'd guess, on top of already buying a Camaro. And isn't the whole f-body program aimed at offering great performance for less money?
Cool idea, and I'm 100% sure somebody will mock up a body kit...but I can't imagine many would-be Firebird buyers ('cheap' performance) would buy that kit...only the die-hard nostalgic folks.
sidenote: everytime I post in this ****ed thread...my posts come out sounding negative towards the Trans Am...ugh!

|USA1Camaro||The GMPP idea would be great. GM would really be covering the bases with that. They wouldn't have to directly compete within the Corporation and would fill a need that many people would potentially buy the retrofit body panels.|

I don't see why GMPP don't step up and offer a Firebird kit for the Camaro. It's a win win for GM to do this. I think they would sell enough kits to break even, but should be able to profit plus sell more Camaros.
It could be kinda like the Camaro F1 kit, but I think it would do much better than the F1 kit.
and yes we did have that discussion here:

I mentioned that before. If someone can come up with the tooling to make it happen, they will sell.
Some factories are experiencing a slow down right now. If someone is serious about the project it might be a good time to request quotes. There are probably people working on it as we speak.

Look at this T/A issue from another angle...
How long before a third party starts selling Trans Am front and rear clips (including other assorted badges/emblems/decals) to be attached to the new Camaro?

Octane has it right. The 12 came from the expected MSRP, $12,000. But US regulations jacked that price up way high while raping performance.
