markgws6 | Cats and stock exhaust manifolds restrict exhaust flow more than mufflers. If you get high-flow cats, (or bypass plates like some racers do) that will free up the most power but be considerably louder. With most exhaust upgrades, you are only going to see like 3-10 HP maximum on an otherwise stock engine. Headers as mentioned will free up more ponies as well and so does a freer flowing colder intake. It's horsepower 101. :-) |

Kitty | the axle backs will free up some hp just by getting rid of those bulky stock mufflers but ya you will get more gain from cat back |

The Flowmaster and the Magnaflow are axle-back systems offered/installed at point of purchase by most dealerships on the V6 Camaro. The dealerships subcontract the installation to a local muffler shop as mine did. And as Kitty said...there is no Flowmaster cat-back system...so you both have a Flowmaster axle back system. Both systems can be installed on any V6 but no axle-back system offers any hp gains. The Flowmaster does offer a deeper sound than the Magnaflow option though...that's why I chose it. ![]() |

Kitty | ya a cat back will give a bit more hp and an overall better sound to the vehicle, but to see bigger hp gains you have to add headers and a cold air intake like dev mentioned earlier |

cat back goes all the way up to the catalytic convertors at the front of the car |
