Throttle Body Sensor???

Envy threw a CEL for the second time today. The first time was on New Years Day. The CEL comes on and stays on until reset. About 10 days prior to each CEL...the transmission becomes sluggish and unresponsive.

My dealership found nothing wrong the first time and reset the computer or whatever its called. They said it was the throttle body sensor that threw the CEL but they would not tell me the exact code.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of scenario or information or advice?

Sorry to hear that, but I'm sure someone here will be a big help! There is a lot of knowledge here.

Here is an idea, if it does it again just run by the local Auto Zone. They will be happy to connect and tell you code you need to figure it out.

Envy (Hillary) , How was the weather the day it came on? Was it hot out? Was the humidity up too? I had a supercharged MX5 and mine would throw a CEL when it got above 80 degrees. I helped "cure" it by running 93 octane in my car. Expensive, but with some of your mods it may stop it from happening.

did you have OnStar do a diagnosis of the CEL? you can grab the code off of them too

If you still have OnStar, give them a call while the car is running and they can give you the code and explain what the cel is about.

Mine thru a cel, called them up and sure enough it was my post cat O2 sensors detecting a leak.

Caused by my JBA short headers. The stacker flanges are a weak point.

Got it fixed with some exhaust sealant. Not saying your cel is the same, but give Onstar a call and they should be able to tell you the problem.

My OnStar has never been activated...so can I still do this? I haven't owned my car a year yet?

The first time it happened CyCam...I was running 93 octane. When I had my car dynoed...I filled it up with premium and continued to do so until the CEL. I thought doing that might have caused the problem...but apparently not.

On both occasions...the weather was cool and humid...after a rain but the streets were dry. I'm really concerned about how poorly the car runs prior to throwing the CEL each time. When it was reset the first time in January...the car ran perfect until about 10 days ago....but I haven't driven her much this year.

Obviously...Envy doesn't like going to the doctor any more than I do...because when I went to take her to the dealership this morning...she turned her own CEL off. I saw no reason to leave her at the dealership so now I just wait...I guess.

I would like to note that the first time the CEL came on...I drove the car for a week and it never went off so I took her in for service. This time it came on and went off in less than 24 hours.

I'll have Quantum check that...I had been running with my cut-outs open both times...but I do that all the time with no CEL resulting.

in my experience w/ onstar and CEL's...they wont give you a code, just a real broad summary of what's causing it (and offer to make a service appointment for you).

Do you have a local advance autoparts or autozone? If yes, next time it happens stop in and have them plug in a code-reader (they offer this free service)...and they'll give you an exact code...will be much easier to figure out the problem.

throttle body sensor code shouldn't have anything to do with the fuel your using.

its possible your intake, filter, throttle body, or MAF sensor is loose. get under their and check all the screws and bolts for that stuff to make sure nothing is leaking.

Autozone, Advanced Auto Parts, NAPA will all do a free diagnostic check for you; and they WILL give you the actual trouble code.
