BBK CAI Install

Installed my first performance mod today. BBK CAI on my 2012 Camaro V6 1LT/RS. I am no expert mechanic. I watched some youtube videos before doing the install. I have to say I was disappointed with the instructions that came in the box. There were no diagrams. It was just a list of steps. Didn't mention cutting the supplied hose or the trim on the air filter box so they fit. No mention to make sure the air sensor is inserted in the right direction etc. Yeah it wasn't hard to figure out but that said some pictures and more complete instructions would have been nice. I had to stop and watch a youtube video at one point as I was not clear about a couple steps.

That being said - I can't believe the difference this thing had made! Incredible! I backed out of my driveway and nailed the pedal as I often do. The traction control light came on and I thought that something was wrong for a second! Then I realized the rear tire was spinning out! I guess the extra horsepower put the car over the top. Usually I need some sand or the road to be a little when for the tires to spin.

The sound of the engine is completely different! I didn't expect it to sound so much louder, and so much more aggressive! I love it!!!!!

Thought I would share my experience so if any of you are on the fence about installing a CAI you should definitely do it. If you are a rookie mechanic like me, you can still pull it off. Watch a couple youtube videos on it and you'll be ok.

Now thinking what I should do for my next mod.... hmmmmm

Good deal man! BBK are one of the under-rated intakes but I think they are just as good as the more popular brands. I'm glad you got some good results from it! Imagine how that car will roar when you get an exhaust for your next mod, lol!! You should also consider ported TB and a tune. Enjoy your car!!

THat's a nice huge ass filter on there... That's has to free up some pumping loss. I torn to run a huge one like that on my turbo build or to see if I can't find another filter for my HKS mushroom filter...they are pretty old filter designs but at the time they where the highest flowing filter you could get.

EDIT: HA...NV, I will use my HKS filter. I found one on amazon for about $10. with the few bucks left on my gift card and the points form my amazon card...after shipping it was 15 cents.

I got the same intake, except with the chrome pipe. yeah, it was kind of a pain to install but the rubbers will loosen up, the instructions were better than most, and they are suppose to add between 8-15 horse power to the v6.. and I think I felt a boost too,
