is that slight difference in power going to sway your decision on whether you order a A6 or M6?

The official numbers are still LS3=422HP & L99=400HP, I believe.

Here's a thread that might be illustrative:

The last post was most curious...

Well my preference is A6, plus the wife needs to be able to drive it as well. I was just hoping the L99 would be rated higher than the LS2. I know it's a larger block and a little more torque, so that should help.

Than I would definitely get the manual...so you wont have to let the wifey drive it.

Honestly, don't let the power #'s sway you if you want an A6. The engines are almost exactly the same (both are the same CI). The difference wont be noticeable. The A6 also has a lower 1st gear.

As of now, I'm getting an M6, but I'm friends with a guy who dyno-tunes 'vette's and he's trying really hard to talk me into going with an A6 because of how he's able to tune them (based on his experiences with 'vettes and G8's). If I was buying a car to drive daily or drag-race, I'd would change to an A6.

Check out my thread on comparing these two combos -- http://www.5thgen.org/forum/showthre...487#post118487

It isn't perfect but it reveals quite a bit about the effects of the different approaches to gearing and the effect the two power curves have...
