What's up with powdered metal rods?

How strong are they versus a forged rod? The "cracked rod" method of seperating the big end is pretty wild.

My 7.3L Diesel has powdered medal rods. They are actually stronger and lighter than forged steel but I guess people can't get by the idea of turning powder into steel.

That article clears a lot up. Thanks. In the past I had heard specific supercharging boost levels were too much for the latest Mustang to take because the powdered rods would fail. Seems powdered rods are better than they sound after all. Wonder what the Camaro can take with a 6 bolt main setup and nodular crank?

The pistons will fail before any of the other parts in most cases. Gotta watch out for detonation especially with forced induction. The fact that the pistons are cast and have small ring lands are to blame.
