Irregular Idle

Hey guys New to this site. Just traded my 2002 Trans Am Collectors Edition #504 for a 2010 Camaro 1SS Black L99 A6. I have always wanted a Camaro and finally broke down and got one since my T/A almost got me killed.

I have noticed an irregular idle with the Camaro. It will jump between 500 rpm and 800rpm and give a little shake. It does not happen all the time but it is getting more frequent. I am a little worried about it so any feedback would be great.

Welcome Aboard

Mine did that for a while after I first got it, I got used to it, but then it smoothed out after a couple of 200ish mile trips. It still rumbles at stop lights every now and then, but that just reminds me whats under the hood

I think it's a trait of the LS3,L99's in these cars. You'll get used to it.9000 miles on mine and still doing it.

Hmm, mine has been rock solid smooth from day one. I think the idle is set too low personally. A little ways down the road I used a Predator to turn off the AFM and bumped the idle speed up 100rpm and it was perfect.

I carried that over when I had the SC installed.

+1 for having it checked out after you put about 1000 miles on it.

The dealer might have put something less than 92 octane gas in the car. Even when you fill with super the engine does automatically reset (or takes very many miles), you need to pull two fuses and leave it overnight. Not sure as I am writing this which fuses they are, do a forum search. Mine still had a bit of a shake "sometimes". When I purchased and installed the Diablo tune I up'd the rpm 150. Now it's very smooth.

yea it is possibly a low quality fuel issue. try and do the "fuse pull" trick to reset the computer.

run your tank as low as you feel comfortable
fill it up with premium (91 or higher octane)
go home
open the hood and fuse box
pull the #5 and #20 fuses (labelled ECM)
and keep them out overnight
put the fuses back in in the morning
turn the car on and let it warm up
then go drive around and see if it isn't as smooth as a baby's bottom!

be sure to ONLY run premium fuel... the car will run like crap with regular, leave that stuff for people with Mustangs

I noticed the samething. It's gone now, may have been low grade fuel from the dealer?
