Hand help tuner clear check engine light?

Will a hand held tuner clear my check engine light that popped up when i installed my long tubes?
Will a hand held tuner void my warranty?
What is the best hand held tuner to go with?

Why will it void the warranty? Doesn't everything go back to factory settings once it's unplugged?

It's been covered thoroughly on here. GM can see if it's been re-programmed, even if the original tune is reloaded.

There's a counter in the ECU for the engine programming...so every time you reprogram the counter ticks upwards. So reloading your original program will make you a #3 and not a #1...and ANYTHING other than a #1 is a warranty deal breaker.

Don't think so, every time the car is plugged into the GM network it reads a code left in the ECM last time it was connected. That code changes everytime anything is changed by anyone. GM is no dummy.

It also depends on who you ask, and how good their dealership is to them. Dealerships are just like people...no two are alike.

Honesty is always best. If you try to pull a fast one on your service dept. you can forget getting anything but the bare minimum from that point on, IF they deal with you at all.

I know of a guy who was an ass to a dealer, and he can't go there anymore. They won't help him.

Not for nothing guys (don't kill me)...but DS says that their tuners cannot be traced or discovered. They advertised (last I checked) that once the tune is removed there is no evidence that it was ever there. And they claim that it is "Warranty Safe". However, I think the ECU will go into "Not In Readiness" mode for 500 miles every time it is flashed. I've had a tune on my car for well over 500 miles but I have not had the opportunity to check if it is in "Readiness" mode or not.

Despite all that DS claims, I bought the Predator with the mindset that it would indeed void my warranty. I have not seen any evidence to support either side. And I haven't seen any posts about voided warranties or warranty issues due to a flash tuner. Either way, Patriot is right, honesty is the best way to approach things. Just don't give anything away...lol!!
