MPG

Hello to all,

I was curious to ask you all V-8 engine lovers ......have any of you calculated your MPG from your Camaro V-8's with the automatic tranny's.

In my second car 08' Impala SS my in dash computer give me about 19-21 MPG using premium gas.

Hi you both,

Just checking out as much info as I can before making my final decision on which engine I'll get when it's time for me to get rid of my SUV and get my Camaro! Based on your figures you both get generally the same MPG as I do in my second car (Impala SS) cuz we both share the same size gas tank.

Thanks again

MidnightSSS,

Unless you have a more sophisticated version to my Impala SS I really don't believe you have to reset and counter. Maybe I need to re-read my book on this but I seriously can't say. Can anyone chime in with an answer?

Unclephatpockets,

That's pretty good mileage you got! In my Impala SS cruising on the highway going from L.A. to Arizona everyone is speeding at 70 MPH and even in the slow lane most of the time my engine stayed running on all eight cylinders. I was using the trip to see what my MPG was but on eight cylinder it didn't return good mileage. I recently found out that if your on flat ground my V-8 did automatically shut down four of it's cylinders and around 65-70 MPH too!!!

Depending on what my insurance company premium quote will be I'm taking every thing into consideration including the MPG for the Camaro. If the price is not much more than the V-6 then I figure why not assuming I get the same mileage/distance as my Impala. Wish me luck in about three more months

Some one told me on this forum that the on board computers are pretty accurate. This is from my last long haul trip. This was all highway driving from Michigan to South Carolina. But the car is a LS3 M6 not an automatic.
