Range AFM Disable

For those who purchased an V8 automatic and are bothered by AFM, the Range AFM Disable may be a solution for you. From the reviews coming in, it works as advertised and disables AFM when plugged in, then goes back to AFM when pulled out. Here's a forum post discussing the product with a link to the website. I have no skin in the game (not affiliated with Range in any way), just wanted to raise awareness on this new product providing 24/7 V8 power. As with all performance mods, do your own research and ask questions prior to deciding.

This is great news for all of us with L99 Camaro's. I'm going to order one today, just wondering why they don't try to advertise on Modern Camaro?

Saves money I guess!

Thanks for the heads up!

Got it installed today and drove straight to work, what a difference it makes to have all eight at your call to enjoy. Glad I did not wait....it's like a whole new car again!

Sandman,

Depending if my insurance rate gets lower if I get AFM I figure it would be good to keep money in my pocket. Now that I read your posting I wonder why one would disable the AFM in the first place

Can you enlighten me some more on the subject

I think there are a couple reasons.

First - a lot of folks want a V8 car because that's what they bought. For me - I don't care about GM's CAFE requirements. They didn't put AFM on the vehicles because they thought it was great and that I would love it. They had to do it.

As such, aftermarket exhaust systems sound terrible and the vehicle is sluggish. We haven't even seen a fuel economy difference between AFM on and off in the cars (trucks are different).

So, I think it's just a matter of taste and driving experience.

Adam,

So that why when I was at the Chevy.com website using there "build your own car" section I noticed you can't get the high performance exhaust system unless you get the manual tranny.

Personally I have the AFM in my 08' Impala SS and on long trips it appears to do pretty well running on 4 cylnder to save gas. Besides that when I see my AAA insurance agent I will tell them I will get the AFM engine to try and get a better annual rate.
