The better your rings are seated/sealed the less you should catch.

I agree with this statement. But that doesn't seem like a lot for 1000 miles on a 6.2L engine. Pulling the crank case pressure brings all that oil vapor from the block, as well as blow by. As I'm new to Ls motors, some one please clarify if I am mistaken. Thanks. :-)

You really don't need a Catch Can on a V8. Waste of money. The real issue is on DI V6 engines. The jury is out.

Good to know about the v6 and I kind of figured as much about the catch can. It's when you do forced induction or crazy high compression builds, that crank case ventilation becomes an issue.

I'll try to posts pics when I empty mine. I usually get plenty of oil. Yup on a. V-8, but I'm sure the anti- catch can brigade we have here will probably say I bought a catch can that was pre-filled with oil so I could believe that it works.

I was on the fence before I went and pulled the trigger. I did some searching and found some who swore by it and others claiming poppycock. I like having piece of mind and since I plan on keeping this baby forever and ever and ever and ever and ever, I picked one up. If it didn't do anything, i'd resell it.

I've had it on for about 3000 miles and there's oil in there.. so now i'm one of the believers

You have a V8... no issue at all. V8s have port fuel injection that cleans the pistons. What are you saving the oil for...to dump back in??? It won't hurt anything on a V8. No sense in wasting your money so you can say you had to empty an unnecessary can. ???????? WTF
