Duel Mode Exhaust

Hi all,
I hear all the time about removing the fuse for Duel mode exhaust.
What about just taking off and plugging the vacuum hoses to each side?
What would be the downfall in doing this?

Swanys, I have a 2012 SS convert able, I had a local muffler shop remove the stock mufflers and replaced with stratght pipes. sounds great under some throttle, but still quiet otherwise due to the dual mode flappers. The owners manual says the fuse is in the fuse block in the trunk, position F8, I wanted to remove it to keep the flaps open, but there was no fuse or relay for the flaps as the manual indicated.

dual mode exhaust

The flapper is at the exit end of the muffler. If you had the dual mode exhaust it went with the stock mufflers when you had them removed. If there was no fuse then I guess you did not have the dual mode exhaust system in the first place.

If you have the dual mode exhaust you will have 4 exhaust tips in the back instead of 2.

I had the same exhaust on my Z06 and designed a remote to open or rather close the flaps, the car will start with them open. you can also buy a Mild to Wild switch. it was easy to do on the vette, not sure on the Camaro.
