Chevy Hot Cam

Has anybody out there Put a GM Hot Cam in a LS3 Camaro and If so how Does it run and sound. What kind of Dyno numbers are you getting, I am talking about the hot cam with 219 intake and 228 exhaust with 5.25 lift in&out. I have Air-raid cold air and kooks long tube headers with high flo-cats.

We did one last year, gains were not great, but more than we expected. Really get a good grand from Comp or a "Rhino" grind (Cam Motion).

Yea you're better of with a custom grind. For the price you pay for cam/install/tune, you might as well get a custom cam and get the most benefit from it. If you're planning more extensive mods in the future (heads, headers, boost, etc), then make the cam the last thing (or one of the last things) you change.

If you decide to go custom on the grind, ramp the lift up as much as possible...once that is at the max, start adding more duration. In my experience more lift is always better than more duration on a cam(s).

SC2150 you say gains were not great but better than expected. What were the unexpected gains? I hope to see 25 to 30 HP gain.

Good info in this report. If I get 40 HP and 17 ftlb TQ increase I think I'll be happy. heard hot cam LS3 crate motor in car at Smoky's Dyno in North Canton Ohio the other day and it had a good lope to it. Think i'm going to go ahead and do a Howards cams version. same stats as GMPP. Then my Hot Wheels Camaro will really be a little hotter.

Had A change of mind today. Decided to still go with a Howards Cam but Instead of the Hot Cam I'm going with their version of the GMPP ASA Cam. 525 lift in and out duration 226 in 236 out 110 LSA. I think Hot Cam good , ASA cam better. Lumpyer sound, which is what i'm looking for. Also more HP.

Got my Howards cams Street ASA cam and Howards LS3 roller rockers in also ATI super damper. Sounds great thru kooks long tube's and HF Cats. After tune 460 HP and 419 Tq at the back wheel. With 11% drive train loss thats 516 HP at the crank. The 3.91 1LE gear set from lingenfelter helps big time with drivability and performance. 525 lift in & out . Duration 226 in 236 out. 113 LSA. Real happy. All work done at Smokey's Dyno performance Canton Ohio.
