Replacing stretch ac belt

I cut the old one off (it was split about 12 inches).
I have the red tool I saw a couple use on You Tube but the tube hits a sensor or something behind the pulley.
Can I use a nylon tie like I saw someone do?

Frustrated!
Thanks,
Glenn

No responses, but I completed the job very easily after thinking about what I was doing. The red tool would not fit. A nylon tie did the trick.
