Any ideas how the 0-60 performance times will compare to the Mustang models. I'm hoping the SS will be in the mid to high 4 second range.
It better be :lol:Well, being we don't know the engine yet its hard to tell, but I would say it will be faster than a comparible Mustang.
Yeah, that's a pretty nifty method of bragging. Nothing quite like a proper muscle car to pull it off, either.i want a fast enough 0-60 so if i tape a 50$ bill to the passenger dash that they can't grab it under accelerationsaw that during the speed channel. guy had an old muscle car and bet everyone who got in the car that they couldnt grab the 50$ under 0-60. haha
Thats kind of hard to ask for on stock tires. That would be some soft compound tire that would wear quickly. Although that would be nice. Mine will be a DD and dont want that expense. I would like to have a set of drag radials for that day at the track.A 0-60 in the 4 second range would be cool. 0-60 isnt the focus of my attention mostly. Its the quarter mile time that concerns me. Ill be happy with a 12.6 bone stock with a 1.8 60 foot on stock tires.
I like to see CAI and full exhaust car run low 12s to breaking 11s.
he would like have the track officials load the track with VHT and **** for him to grab.... 12.6 bone stock, i dont know. it be cool as hell but im happy with seeing 12.9 or so. but the 0-60 is where the OH **** FACTOR kicks inThats kind of hard to ask for on stock tires. Ive seen it done at tracks like Rockingham in NC. Well prepped. But then again they were not "stock" tires. But then again if its not a DRs or slicks, I consider them a "stock" tires or street tires.Thats kind of hard to ask for on stock tires. That would be some soft compound tire that would wear quickly. True, but if a stock GTO can set the mark at 12.9; I would hope a 5th gen with hopefully near the same weight, with better IRS design, and LS3 (35 extra hp) can deliver 3 tenths less than a 12.9 of a GTO record. But then again I have high standards. I prolly be let down on that, but I can live with a 12.9 as long as 315 sized DR can be mounted on without rolling fenders and pedders drag bags can be put on. That I can live with.he would like have the track officials load the track with VHT and **** for him to grab.... 12.6 bone stock, i dont know. it be cool as hell but im happy with seeing 12.9 or so. but the 0-60 is where the OH **** FACTOR kicks in![]()
oh. well if the fastest goat u know of ran 12.9 then yea i hope most camaro's can get around 12.6. but the fastest goat i know of that was stock ran a 13.2 at Atco in NJ. Along with the 10.99 Stock C6 Z06 with only radials was also at Atco,NJ. but it's weird tho. atco don't prep their tracks for test and tune nites like they use to :BangHead:True, but if a stock GTO can set the mark at 12.9; I would hope a 5th gen with hopefully near the same weight, with better IRS design, and LS3 (35 extra hp) can deliver 3 tenths less than a 12.9 of a GTO record. I work with a guy who has an 06 GTO and he said it was true about the 12.9 stock GTO. So I hope the camaro will be in the mid 12's. A hundred lbs lighter and 30 more hp and you are there. You know, I remember of the 12.9 run in the bone stock LS2 GTO, but I cant find it in the GTO forums (im not a member to use the search). I did find one with a tune, but its not the car I read about setting the record (I could be wrong): http://www.dragtimes.com/Pontiac-GTO-Timeslip-6814.html .
But even cars running slicks with 1.9 60 foots are having times all over the place. For example, here is a car with slicks running 13.4 http://www.dragtimes.com/Pontiac-GTO-Timeslip-5285.html.
I expect to see a 5th gen camaro running low 13s with the average joe. But I like to be impressed with someone like Ranger (guy with fastest stock vette times) driving the 5th gen to something near 12.6. Driver is a big factor.
