What is the deal on the 1-4 shift feature on the M6 trans? I was reading the features PDF and saw this hadn't heard of it before. Can you deactivate it?

it's put in place to improve MPG (thus avoiding the gas-guzzler tax)...basically at certain RPMs/speed it forces you to shift from 1st to 4th.

There's an plug made by SLP that disables it...or if you're getting a PCM tune, you can disable it that way.

It is in effect only at low speeds. If you're are doing slow starts and just cruising along, there isn't a problem. The technology has been around for awhile I believe. Chevy saves big on MPG, which in return the Camaro doesn't get hit with the dreaded gas guzzler tax!

Yeah my 98 Z28 has it and with over 243,000 miles I have put on it I don't find it an issue.

If the 1st to 4th activates it means you are going too slow!! Let your boy run!!

YES...after my first 100 miles in my car, I have yet to see it activated.
