So I had the dealer install the 1Le 3:91 gear and I must say the best up grade yet worth the 1,200 I paid. I had them do it because they said it wouldn't void my warranty if they did it. This is the gear the car should have came with what a difference. I have notice more wheel hop so I was wondering what small upgrades can I do to the suspension to keep the wheels on the ground.

Yes they are shorter first gear is over in a blink.Yes every thing had to come out they replaced all bearings and seals. The car pulls hard in every gear tires break away on command threw 1st 2nd. Its cold out so i hope in the summer she'll hook a little better or ill be getting some fatter tires. This is one those up grades that will not disappoint.

Trailing arms make the biggest improvement for wheel hop, then the toe arms. Subframe mounts will eliminate the "squirm" and "step out" under power....
BMR has trailing arms for 139.00 (non adjustable) will be ordering them today. Not sure about doing the toe arms right now i see you have to drop the rear cradle to get to one bolt.

You don't have to completely drop it, just lower it to the ends of the bolts' range and you can get it out. Been there done that.

change the oil at 500miles and done. you can do a few 20mile heat cycles if you want. its a debate but most people just drive it. these gears are no different than buying a new car. You just put 3.91 gears in it. I think I made 165 miles befor tromping on it.

the dealers are smoking crack with there charge. mine wanted over $100 to do it. its literally a 5min job and only 1 qt +3oz of limited slip fluid. the drain and fill plugs fit a 3/8 ratchet. you might want to get a hand pump to fill it though.

they cant void your warranty if you change it yourself. unless you damage it or use the wrong fluid.

no you can do your own maintenance. as long as you can prove you did it. keep the receipts from the fluids.

3.91 Gear

I'm also very interested in swapping out the gears. I have a 2014 SS and the GM service department told me after the upgrade I may not want to run on the highway. He said the rpm's may be too high. What are your thoughts on that? Would you say it is safe on the highway?

rpm is like 1800 at 80mph. You will barlly notice it. Won't affect mileage much at all. Do it. These cars were meant for those gears.
