2009 Pontiac G8 GXP. Tipping the scales with a healthy 400+ horses from a 6.2L LS3 V8, the GXP is likely to be the sprinter of the family, turning in 0-to-60 times of about 4.7 seconds.

It will also sport an optional six-speed manual transmission and feature a sportier front and rear fascia, although the family resemblance is unmistakable.

2010 Pontiac G8 sport truck, you’d expect that it demands a lot of attention. Part sports car, part pick-up and all attitude, the sport truck really will create an all new segment for the marketplace.

It’ll have the same 6.0L V8 powerplant as its G8 GT cousin and still will run 0-to-60 times of under 5.5 seconds. Plus, it’s got a six-foot, soft tonneau covered bed and 3,500 lb towing capacity. In short, this little baby can “haul” in every sense of the word.

But, the one thing it doesn’t have is its own name. “G8 sport truck” is just a description and we need you to help us name this baby. Starting on March 15, you’ll have the ability to submit your suggestions at www.pontiac.com/namethiscar. The winning name will be announced on April 15. And, by submitting an entry, you also get a chance to win one for yourself.

The G8 GXP will be on the streets late this year while the G8 sport truck will follow in Fall 2009.

And our brand fertility is not yet complete.... You’ll want to check back at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18 for yet another announcement from the delivery room.

Well, there's your confirmation of the G8 GXP getting the LS3.
This bodes very well for Camaro. :D :D

I have to wonder.... what's the next announcement on the 18th?
It's apparently another version of the G8.... perhaps... A COUPE!???!?

A coupe would be so forking killer for Pontiac. A coupe, a GXP G8, and the ST. What a trio!

The press release says. Pending final testing, the G8 GXP is expected to deliver 0-to-60 mph performance of about 4.7 seconds, and a quarter-mile time of 13.0 seconds at 108 mph. A 3.27 final drive ratio comes with automatic-equipped GXPs, and a 3.70 gear is matched with the manual transmission. A limited-slip differential is standard.

Recommended fuel: premium unleaded
Maximum engine speed (rpm): 6600

There is your answer from Peper.

They have not rated the LS3 yet, so there just saying its over 400 HP.
They have it rated at 402 HP, but its bending SAE testing.
IMO thats your Camaro engine.

The LS3 engined GXP is very good news for people wanting Camaros. If the Corvette gets it and the G8 GXP gets it, it only makes sense that the Camaro will have it as well.

I still think that the difference between a L76 and LS3 is so small that when it comes time for modification it's negligible. A regular gas running L76 could easily make 400+hp with CAI, exhaust and tune.

Edit:
One tuner has 327rwhp/340 tq SAE on a stock G8 GT showing 31 miles on the OD. That is very close to 385-400hp at the flywheel depending on loss. Let it get some more break in miles and see what it makes.

I'm liking the G8 a lot. If I didn't need 4wd for the winter, this would be my new daily driver.

Both cars look great!! Love the ST (El Camino). I'm gonna take a serious look at this car/ truck.

So the 3rd car is another G8? I thought it was going to be the Solstice Coupe or targa.

The Perfect Name (in my opinion)

I don't post a lot on the site but follow it everyday and enjoy the conversations and info. Thanks to you all for making this a daily stop for me.

With this new G8 truck Pontiac's got something pretty cool going on here. As I sat and stared at the picture of this truck a name came to me that I think is perfect, so I entered the contest, who knows maybe I'll win one.

Here it is: The PONTIAC PARAGON
Paragon means: A model of perfection or excellence.

Seems to fit, what do you think? It's even has a good ring to it, just sounds right to me.

Like the car but I don't like those hood scoops.
Aftermarket carbon fibre hood with maybe a couple of functional vents would look great, imo.

How about Pontiac Panther or Pontiac El Tigre, kind of a play on El Camino?

I dunno, can't enter anyway I'm a Canuck.
