Hey dodger. Alot has to do with who's parts and who installs them. One thing of note is that alot of aftermarket parts DON"T void the warranty. The dealers like to say that a part voids the warranty but if something happens it is on them or an inspecto to prove that your part caused the failure. My dealer is installing a GM Performance SC rated at 680hp on an ordered 2ss vert and all warranties will be inplace. Actually I go to the dealer in a half hour to talk with the finance person so I hope the deal will still be in place with the agreed prices.

It depends on your dealer for most warranty aspects. Some will allow almost anything, some will void your warranty with a catch can. You can talk with the service manager to see what he says. Most of the time, doing a catch can, intake, throttle body, exhaust, and shorty headers will give you no grief at the dealer. However once you get deeper like tunes, cams, superchargers, long tube headers (things that require a tune), you are in jeopardy of loosing your warranty on large costly repairs if GM finds out.
On large costly repairs, like engine and transmission overhauls and replacements, most of the time GM will require the computers tune be sent in to them for inspection, then GM will allow or not allow the warranty work to be performed. If GM says no, they will most likely void your warranty, and that will be in effect at all dealers.

Make sure you get it in writing that all warranties are kept in place (and it will only be honored for that dealer btw).
If GM finds out you have an aftermarket tune, they will void your warranty, and dealers can't do squat about it. If this happens with your car down the line, and GM says no warranty, then the dealer will have to fork out the cash if you have it in a good, legal binding written statement.

Know your local dealers, find out which ones are mod friendly, and stick to them, go nowhere else. Talk with them before you bring your car into them, and find out what they say about the mods you have, or want. The dealer doesn't have to tell GM that you have these things on your car, and therefore your warranty will remain. But if you go to one dealer who says no to warranty, and he sends the info to GM, them may void your warranty, and then your warranty is void at all dealers.
I've had my car warrantied for suspension related stuff, and I'll tell you my suspension isn't stock!

Get a tune and your warranty is voided, get headers and have an incident involving the engine and they could void it.... basically any performance mod will void the warranty if they want to.... In order for them not to be able to void you need to prove what you did has nothing to do with what broke.. then it comes down to the dealer as well..

If you have your oil change and other low cost maintenance done at the dealership you will never have to worry about the warranty. If the service manager only sees you when something is wrong why would he go out of his way to help you.

I have ARH headers, Borla exhaust, cai, throttle body, and a tune. They only thing the service manager has ever said to me was "I like those headers who makes them".

I always bring donuts when I have my oil changed
