so i just bought a a 89' firebird with a 3.1 v6, motor cranks but runs like crap
im amazed that the car has the gta front end and headlights, it is hardtop.
a4, body is in 9 out of 10 condition, int. is in ok condition, but i dont care, for it since i have a full 4th gen dash, int. and seats from a t/a
it seems like the v6 and v8 cars both use the same mounts for the engine, but im not sure, either way i have a 6.0 engine and some 300cfm ls6 heads, that i ported looking for a home.
my plan is to use the 6.0 and heads with a trex type, cam and a 750hp
dp carb. and th350 and a shot of some spray.
mostly for hustlin' ls1 cars, and local cobra worshippers.
of course i will not disclose my engine as usual, to would be competitors

i learned how to piss people off, when they are reluctant to race.
i will say it does not matter what i am running, either i will smoke them.
then they ask what im packing, and i will continue, with "doesnt matter"
if u wanna race, lets go. if not go race a honda or something.
usually does the trick:eek:wned:

i have noticed that there is a lot of ford guys that have no respect for
3rd gens on the street. alot of ls1 and lt1 owners are this way also.
i think i would have to target the mod motor mustang guys and lt1 cars:D
kwik buck.(evil laff smiley)

WOW very cool, good luck with teh conversion and actually would be a great write up...

You can visit www.nttga.net/forums or thirdgen.org for use as resource and parts information and such.

Motor Mounts are the same V6 to V8.
I have a LS1 waiting for my IROC..
can't wait to get it in..
Don't race much just enjoy the car and race every now and then.
LSx motors in a 3rd Gen is a nice swap, looks right at home in those engine bays.

yea, i helped swap in a ls1 into my friends car, a 82 camaro,
but he used a pa racing kmember. i will be using the same.
i think the kmember will cost me more than the car, i paid 300$ for it.
will pick up tom. sat.
i have my ss and c5, but since both their rears are stock, i dont plan on destroying them. with hard launches. racing.
thats y ive been thinking a bout a 3rd gen for local street gatherings,;)
3rd gens get no respect, in my town it seems, ev1 has either a ls1
or lt1, or something. and that adds to the effect that i am looking for.
i will no doubt get written off by some dude in a 600rwhp cobra or a h/c/i
ls1 car driver.:D
i have been collecting parts for such a build. and i have a
built th350 with 4000 stall tq con. with anti ballon plate
11:1 scr 370 ci .060 over 6.0 lq4
243 62cc 300cfm, 235cfm heads
750 holley hp double pumper carb.
so the engine and trans are there, need single plane intake and msd
ignition box. and eveything else to get running.

and with a carb.
nones the wiser:D
i will be picking up car today after, if it dont rain again.

im starting to think that i shoulda got a camaro instead,:BangHead:
its not too late, actually i would prefer it. over the firebird.
A very quick, stock looking Thirdgen will surprise alot of people. My old '89 Formula 350 was set up with a ton low low end torque for the street and woke up plenty of 5.0L, LT1 and LS1 powered drivers... :D
