Not much, but at least its progress.

The GM shutdown is expected to last more than a month as the automaker transfers production of the Chevrolet Impala from its No. 1 car plant to its No. 2 plant. The No. 2 plant also produces Buick cars.

The No. 1 plant is being prepared for rear-wheel-drive car assembly, which includes the much-hyped Chevrolet Camaro sports car.

good news but bad news.... its great they are getting the plant ready for production of the beast. but it sounds like the us dollar vs canadian is causing problems in the international auto industry. whats going to happen in 2 years, supposing our economy gets worse, or better for that matter? how will this effect pricing, with it being GM american owned, but built in Canada???? im not sure i fully understand the trade/finantial/economy issue, but to me it doesnt sound good to hear our dollar falling short of theirs. someone explain please.
I don't really understand it too much myself, but I think the news is bad for Canadians and good for Americans. I may be wrong though.:D
It says "rear-wheel drive production" and says that INCLUDES the Camaro. So what other RWD goodies are they going to crank out?

I think G8 and Camaro and maybe Impala.
Camaro and G8 are all that have been confirmed so far.
But Impala, Lucerne and DTS are all in the Zeta pipeline. :)
They're going to make the G8 there? I thought it was going to be built in Australia only?

For now G8 will be built in Australia, but after a couple years, production is being moved to Oshawa.
Groovy, would still rather have it IN the states..but that beats across an ocean. :p

I don't care where it's built, as long as the quality is important and the price is right. These days cars/trucks are crossing borders left and right. The Toyota pick-ups were designed and built in America, by Americans, but they are still Japanese trucks? It's all mixed up.

The important thing is that GM knows this car is helping to represent American Muscle, in the coming age of the "new muscle wars" that every car magazine is heralding. If they want to win, they have to fight for it.
to me, it matters where the dollar goes after the sale. it doesn't much matter where it is built, as the japs have shown us. at the end of the road, the money from the sale of a Camaro will end up here in the U.S.
i believe this is the second coming and death of the muscle car. hybreds and regulations will kill them in a couple of years...
As long as I have mine, I'll be happy. They always grandfather in old cars to an extent. If I have to DD a Prius, just to keep people happy, and pop out the Camaro on special occasions (and autocrosses, of course), then I will. Heck, I can trade in my old F-150 for some eco 4 banger and triple my gas mileage... :)

I wouldn't worry to much about that, especially right now as the CAD is only worth slightly more than the USD...literally by just a few cents. (1USD=0.9621CAD)

It just means Canada can import stuff from the U.S. slightly cheaper... and it's slightly more expensive for us to import stuff from them...meaning they'll most likely import more stuff as the years go by. So net exports increase and cause Agrigate Demand to shift to the right..which theoretically drives price levels up and RGDP higher.

For that plant at least, Impala. I'm not sure where the G8 is being built, it may be included too.

But do you all remember that released/leaked document a long while back between the UAW, and GM?

Every time they mentioned the Camaro (GMX 511/521), it was linked with the Impala code 551.

It looked like this:
GMX 511/521/551 whenever it was regarded, or mentioned.

so..........
