Hi everyone, I've just signed up on this forum after reading through some of the posts!

I'm big fan of the Transformers Movie and am building a replica of the 76 Camaro!

I'm getting there with it, still got a lot to do though.. but I'm happy with how it's coming on! It's got that beat up look for sure, since it's kind of naturaly that way haha!

Anyway, I need your help to tell me what spoiler they used on the Camaro in the movie? I can't seem to locate it anywhere and I want to use the exact same type as in the movie!

Probably you guys know which one it'll be!! This is my first Camaro so I don't really know a huge amount about all the models!

Or if anyone has one let me know!

Anyhow still got to do the interior, change the tires for BF Goodrich and change the rims on the rear so it's exactly like the one in the movie!!

Attached a pic of the work in progress!

Hope you can help, thanks in advance!

Cheers, Marko

hahaha Thanks!

Yeah, what's up with my pics! Still not working!! Let me see...
:hello:Welcome to the site, Marko. I can't help with the spoiler, but I'm sure some of the 2nd gen Camaro peeps will chime in soon enough. Sounds like a cool project......looking forward to seeing the pics of the build.
Hi, thanks! Yeah hopefully they will see my post.. wasn't sure where to post it... the transformers section or the 2nd Gen section!

I'll post some more pics of my car soon as work continues!
Im imagine it is a standard spoiler from the 2nd gen camaros but not sure which one is the same one and which ones will fit?

I checked that link with the pic of your fathers 81 camaro but didn't work :(
Hey thanks for the ebay link... I just found this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/78-81-CAMARO-Z28-5-PIECE-WHEEL-SPOILER-SET-Z-28_W0QQitemZ370089074479QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item370089074479&_trkparms=72:727|39:1|65:12|240:1318&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245

Does anyone know if that is the exact same one as in the film?

Will this one fit my 76 Camaro ?

Cheers
It should be the same one, but as far as I know, the chin spoilers didn't actually come on the 74-77s.
It looks as if the spoiler for a 76 Camaro can also be found on Camaros from 1974-1981.
I checked 2 parts dealers and they both have new (reproduction) 3 piece spoilers for sale for 74-81 Camaros.
If you don't know about these guys yet you may want to get them out.

I would suggest to you to check prices and research your parts before you purchase them, all parts are not created equal.
the rear taller spoiler looks like a 70-73 i think the 74 -77 were smaller, front looks like the 79 z28
Forget what I said above, I misunderstood what you were looking for, I was under the impression you wanted the rear spoiler. Sorry
could the front spoiler be from a firebird???
yeah this front spoiler is really getting me! I've looked at loads of spoilers, but can't find one that is exactly like the one from the movie...

would it be an idea to contact whoever made the movie and find out if they can tell me where they got it from... or better if they have any spares haha ;)

Or does anyone else have any ideas on which one it is?

thanks for all the help and advice!

I wish you luck, but I don't think you're going to find that exact spoiler. It looks like a custom deal. The 76 T/As look closer to the end pieces used on Bumblebee:

The 77 Z28s were the only big bumper car to get a chin spoiler, and it doesn't look anything like the spoiler on Bumblebee.

The chin looks to be that of a late model Z28, thats why you have the wheel flare there. and the rear spoiler looks to be from a 70-73 camaro. i think there were two heights avaiable. i belive most of the parts from 70-81 are somewhat interchanable, but things like the back window, grill, and tail lights are not. keep in mind that the movie guys could have made the parts for the cars, as it is not uncommon for them to do that.

If you do a google search you can find a few 1976 Camaro with this spoiler/fender flare/ ground effect.

I just did a little more research and found this...
http://www.yearone.com Then search for PJ13 -1974-1977 models 3-piece front spoiler. Reproduction. $278.00

Maybe you need to contact Year One and request a picture. Maybe try their tech support, I would hope that they could tell you if this is the exact item you are looking for. I hope that it helps.

To clarify, the subframes from the 70-73 and the subframes from the 74-81 are different. The rear windows are the same from 70-74. In 75 they changed to a rounder rear window. Tail Lights from 70-73 were dual round tail lights. For 74-77 they were kinda wedge shaped on the outter edges, and on the 78-81 they were almost like the third gen tail lights. Z28s were only produced from 70-74 and 77-81. Almost all body parts are interchangeable. Alot of people like to take 74s (because they're cheap) and put 70-73 replacement body panels on them (especially the RS style). The interiors are pretty much interchangeable. The dashes were the same design from 70-78 and switched to a squarer, flatter style from 79-81. The Center consoles were different from 70-74 and the same for 78-81s. I believe it was 77 or 78 when they introduced a pseudo circuit board thing that controlled current to lights, gauges, etc. In 80 they actually had something of a computer on board.
