The Camaro GT that races in Europe is an amazing beast that was developed in collaboration between YACO Racing Sareni United and Reiter Engineering and they feel there is room for improvement.

A prototype of the new 2013 model has just been tested at the ITA Adria track. Racing demanded a brake rotor upgrade to 410mm which is just over 16 inches in diameter. This makes them too big for last year's 18 inch wheels. So 19 inch rims have been put on. A new, upgraded, limited-slip-differential is now part of the car as are upgrades to the aerodynamics package.

There is a revised front-splitter and a new rear-wing spoiler. The chassis has been reinforced and lightened to improve performance. The 2012 car weighs 2,987lb but with the revisions it is down to 2,822lb.

“We learned a lot during the first racing season. It takes a lot of work to develop, build and employ a new racing car. The YACO Racing team used two Camaro‘s GT and did a lot of valuable work throughout the whole season. We also had a few setbacks which motivated us to continue improving the car. We will see a considerably more competitive Camaro GT next year, given the new modifications, the new aero package and the reduced weight”, said one of the Sareni engineers.

I think it looks great. However, that lip under the grill seems to me seems to add drag and not be very aerodynamic, does anybody have insight on this?
