Chevrolet Camaro extended its lead in the U.S. sports car segment in February, posting 6,482 total sales. This is a 21 percent increase over January results, and marks the ninth consecutive month that Camaro total sales outpaced sports car models including the Ford Mustang, Nissan 370Z, and Dodge Challenger.

Consumers have bought nearly 75,000 Camaros since it was launched in early 2009, and demand continues to hold steady even in winter months.

“Traditionally, we expect to see a dip in sales for rear-wheel-drive performance cars over the winter,” says John Fitzpatrick, Chevrolet Performance Cars marketing manager. “But, demand for Camaro shows no sign of slowing down, particularly in the Sun Belt”

Texas, California and Florida account for about 25 percent of all Camaro retail sales, and six of the top 10 U.S. dealers for Camaro sales are located in Texas.

Importantly, Camaro continues to attract new customers to Chevrolet. Of Camaro buyers who traded-in a vehicle at the time of purchase, about half traded-in a non-GM vehicle.

“We’re beginning to see owners of performance cars like Mustang and 350Z trading in their cars in to get behind the wheel of a Camaro,” says Fitzpatrick. “To me, that’s an incredible testament of the appeal, and performance, of Camaro.”

The Oshawa Assembly Plant has been running Saturday overtime since June 2009 to keep up with demand for Camaro. According to recently released data, Camaro led the segment in consumer retail registrations for 2009 calendar year.

How recent is this information? Does that mean Oshawa has made over 25,000 Camaros that haven't yet found buyers? I would think more than 75,000 people have either purchased or ordered one by now if the 100,000th Camaro has already rolled off the assembly line.

#1 Hands Down, thanks to Eric and the boys!

;) Thanks Scotty you helped contribute to our success!
I think you are both Great dealers!!!!!!
Eric gets to work at a dealership right in the center of a busy area that loves to spend money , then there is the long time positive feedback classic has given to the public ESPECIALLY with the Chevy Camaro over the years. plus Eric can speak to just about anyone and make them feel comfortable when selling a Car.

Scott I think you are the same kind of person as Eric and thats awsome!!!! Dealers like yall are rare.
Your dealership is probably not sitting right on a major highway with Traffic outside of it everyday every minute. Something tells me when you have 23 Corvettes sitting on the frontline where traffic has to sit and look at moves people better lol

IF I had lived closer to Newman with the way I see how you are I would have gone to Newman....I just kept the Family legacy of where I bought my Camaro going............... Plus working with Eric was a Blast.

Scott you need to come on down to Texas for a Nascar Race at TMS  The scenery of TMS is like No other ;)

Tony in our internet dept will actually be there for the next race...He has friends down there he sells to....Funny thing is, we actually sent one to Classic so he could get a TX edition Silverado. We have some interesting ties with Classic, and I think it's fair to say we are proud of them. It is a competitor that is very friendly to work with! I wish we had more dealer friendships in the business!

I've been to Talladega...honestly, if that was a 10 lap race, I would have been just as excited...but I had to see at least one restrictor plate race. TMS and AMS are the next two tracks I want to see.

I MIGHT make the Chicagoland race this year - Michigan was just too **** hot in August = and my 74 year old NASCAR Nut Mother, nearly fainted, along with my wife.

I have been taking my Camaro to car shows since I received it in June 2009. I can tell you first hand there is a lot of interest in the Camaro because my car seems to be talked about and have a lot of visitors. Everyone wants to look inside, site in the drivers seat and ask how does it perform. I tell them it does the quarter in 13.5 at 108 mph in 3rd gear and I have 3 more gears to go. I am off to another show tomorrow, we will see how many inquiries I get as more and more Camaros are on the street.
