It was said to build a Mustang the same as you would want your Camaro and they should be priced very close.

Well I was building a mustang, right before i blew it up , and to get the remote start I had to change the tranny to an Auto, that sucks. Now I do know you cant start a manual in gear. I want an M6 with remote start dangit. Maybe if only the e brake is on it will start--wishful thinking maybe, on the Camaro that is. What do yall think?

When I clicked on this thread, I was expecting one like the "challenger vs. mustang" one. Before reading, I was ready to post, "is this for real?". Lol. The reason for no remote start with a manual is because of room for failure. Plus I believe it a law against it too.

Worst case scenario: E-brake cable loose, car is in gear, remote start engaged in walmart parking lot, .....wham....you just hit a old lady walking to her car without even being in the car.

But as for the sound system deal, Ford is ghey about having to put everything into options package; but Im sure if order via dealership that a sound system can be order without an auto.

It's simple, make it so that if it's in gear it won't start. I've thought about that before. Automatics have a built in system that wil only let you start the car in park or neutral. Same thing could be done with Manual (minus the "Park" thing). You could even go one step further and only start if the parking brake is on. There's already a light for it, so that's simple enough to tie in to.

Its just the chance of failure in the system. Its electronic (short or crossed wires) and the one time the remote start lockout fails then all kind of legal crap will happen. With automatic only, the park and lockout is a double measure and a possible triple with ebrake. Im all for DIY remote on manual though, that way it leaves the liability on the owner not the automaker. Because I hate for a lawsuit to go through on a remote start /manual car, and (way usually goes with system) have the remote start ban competely on any car. Me personally I would love to have it on my manual car.

But my remote start will work if I put my truck in neutral with the emergency brake as well. Plus, my truck is 15 years old. It could slip into gear by accident. :) I still think they can build in checks to make it work safely.

My Corvette won't start without the clutch depressed, but that could fail just as simply as anything else. It's just a simple switch as well. Granted, you still have to be in the car to start it, instead of across the parking lot, but still...

I'm not trying to be argumentative, I just think it's easier than you think, but people just have it in their minds that manuals can't use remote start.

I agree with Jinx. Way too much liability with the remote start/manual trans. Sure, I would love that option also, but with today's society, it won't fly. Does anyone remember the Audi unintended acceleration lawsuits? BTW, as far as Mustang vs. Camaro, I do believe price is going to be a key target for GM, making the Camaro competitive with the Ford. The Challenger will be odd man out with its price being at least 5K more than top Camaro or Mustang.Just my 2 cents.

I would think it would be easy and prolly easier with a manual; but I think its not about if you can, its about if the manufacturer should. Its easier just to leave it to the customer to do it, financially and legally.

If you go on the "build and price" on the website and click on a uplevel soundsystem a little window pops up saying "MUST GET AUTO, BECAUSE WE FAIL AT LIFE."

Not in those exact words, though.

You're gonna have to "know someone" in the installation bidness because as far as I know, aftermarket people won't put them on manuals either. But then, I haven't researched it, this was just me talking to the guy that installed the one on my truck.
