About 1,000 exuberant autoworkers here cheered Thursday's production launch of the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8, as Chrysler LLC executives touted the retro-styled muscle car as the least expensive manufacturing startup in the company's history.

Not hard to be "the least expensive manufacturing startup in the company's history" when the car is same platform as the Charger/300 and still uses the current parts bin to make most of it.

"We never had to shutdown production to launch this car," he said. "We ran pilot Challengers on the same lines as production 300s and Chargers."


^ Evidence that it doesnt even lose pace in the middle of Chargers/300s lines. Goes to show how different they are.:rolleyes:

So it's the least expensive car, using current parts, and they are charging a premium for it. Well, you can't say that the execs at Dodge are stupid now. As for the people buying them? Well, that's apparently a different story.
