Hi all,
I just bought a 1996 z28. It has a few problems but all something i can fix.
One of the problems is with the clutch (hence the title). When the clutch is pushed to the floor it will make an odd grinding-type noise, but not gear grind.. Has anyone come across this before?

Also, while the transmission is in reverse, you must hold the shifter in reverse or it will pop out of gear.. Any ideas?

I dont know a whole lot aboout sticks, but that sounds like it could be the pressure plate or throw out bering. Does it do it after it has warmed up?

Probably the throw out bearing. If you're going to replace it, just replace the clutch...seriously. Most clutch kits come with the bearing anyway.

This exact problem happened to my buddy's VW Golf (JUNK) and we just replaced the clutch in it and it fixed it.
