As expected, GM has officially confirmed that the next rendition of the Cobalt SS (on sale 2nd Quater 2008) will indeed get the 260hp/260tq Turbo DI 2.0L.

This new Cobalt SS has set a new record lap at Nurburgring for the front-drive sport-compact class, rounding the circuit in 8:22.85, over 13 seconds faster than the previous record.

Should be a quick, fun car! :thumbsup:

Looks good, Im glad they did the turbo over the s/c like in the older models. It even looks like (from the pics) that they ditched the big spoiler.

Nice, I wouldn't get one. I'm cheap and prefer the 87 octane gas.
Which would limit me to the basic 2.2L 4 cylinder .
They should come up with a 87 octane replacement for the SS(sport), imho.

The first SRT4 stopped production cuz they ended production of the Neon.

The new SRT4 may have 285hp, but it's still a Caliber, which is lame.

Colbalt SS > Caliber SRT4

The Caliber is by far VERY ugly...its a joke really. From what I understand its quite heavy so I bet a turbo cobalt (be nice with a 6spd) could take one.

Even though the Caliber SRT-4 DOES get a 6spd manual.
I like the look of the Jeep Patriot, which is on the same frame as the Caliber, but it's too underpowered.

The Caliber RT is 3156 lbs.

GM has been locked and loaded i guess. now they are just releasing all their ammo. with the camaro to shot the mustang fans, and cobalt for the "import market" and the new cts ( OMG I JUST LOVE) after the luxary german brands.
