In a press conference held in Dallas, Dale Earnhardt Jr and Hendrick Motorsports CEO Rick Hendrick announced that in 2008, Dale Jr. will be driving the #88 Chevrolet sponsored by Mountain Dew/Amp Energy and The National Guard.

Two paint schemes will be used throughout the 2008 season, one for Mountain Dew/Amp Energy, and another for The National Guard.

They showed some video of the new cars, and I'll see if I can find some pictures later on today (press conference isn't over yet).

You can already buy #88 Dale Jr merchandise on NASCAR's website, hehe.
Including pre-sales on 1/64 and 1/18 diecasts of both cars, which are expected to ship out at the end of January.

"WT"? :twak: Being just a little stereotypical there aren't we?

I'm not a fan of NASCAR any longer, but I have friends and family who are, and they aren't "WT". ;) Granted, there are alot of them who deserve that title, but not everyone falls into that category.

I may be overreacting a bit, and I'm not looking to start an argument. I'm just a former NASCAR fan, who has watched the sport become a joke, and who finally said the hell with it after Jr. turned out to be a real a-hole.

OK. Sorry for my rant. I'll go away now. :)

I'm still a NASCAR fan, but not as die-hard as I used to be.
With the changes they've made recently, it is definitely on its way out.

Anyway... here's a picture of Dale Jr's new cars:

Can't see the sides or back much in that picture, but the sides are white, witch the exception of where the hood color blends into the side, and the number 88 is red.
Also, the back "TV panel" is black.

:) re; "WT", I overreacted. Honestly, I did get a laugh at the thought of all those with '8' tattoos breathing a huge sigh of relief, followed by a rush to the tattoo parlor to get another '8' added.

Thanks for the pics. Tim. I was curious as to what the cars looked like.

I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but, does anyone watch F1?

#1 - it is a joke and you did overreact :D
#2 - being a fan is one thing - I enjoy it myself, but having a f'n car number tattooed on your person is a bit much for most people out there and they deserve to look like an idiot when it changes

Regarding Jr - nascar is business when it's all said and done. Just like every other sport, generally the $$ has become more important than the love of the game IMO.
