Don't laugh too much after reading my question:lol:- I am 100% new to Camaros. What engine does my 2013 2SS/RS have in it? The L99 or LS3.

Can anyone explain the difference?

LS3 if you have a manual. It is a L99 if you have the automatic.

As stated the L99 is always mated to the super awesome 6L80E auto w/ tapshift!

In a nutshell the L99 differs in the following:

1. AFM (Active Fuel Management) to deactivate 4 cylinders on demand under certain conditions for increased fuel economy (VVT via cam phaser and special lifters/solenoids)
2. lower compression due to the AFM clearance in the CC (10.4 vs 10.7 for the LS3)
3. 400HP vs 426 for the LS3
4. Higher volume oil pump to run the VVT cam phaser & AFM lifters
