From Edmunds: http://blogs.insideline.com/straightline/2010/04/exclusive-chevrolet-camaro-to-get-new-interior-for-2012.html

Edmunds Inside Line said:
Used to be that dudes who drove pony/muscle cars didn't give a **** about having nicely textured, low-sheen car interior trimmings. As long as the plastic flashing on the seams of the center console wasn't so egregious that it would slice their hands while they reached for ashtray, it was cool.

But now men cry out in public and want a non-crappy interior in their Camaro. One problem: The new Camaro's interior is indeed on the crappy side. A GM insider confirmed for us that the company is hard at work now on a substantially reworked interior for the Camaro that will appear for the 2012 model year. He couldn't/wouldn't list all of the changes, but did mention that most of the upgrading work will go into the dash and specifically that big expanse of blackness in front of the passenger. We're betting the work will include substantially more than just a new dash cap and will -- please, please, please -- include a new, less-stupidly shaped steering wheel and primary gauges designed with readability as a higher priority than some ill-considered retro style.

Also new for the 2012 will be a little something called the Camaro Z28. Perhaps you've heard of it once (or a million times) before. Why wait until the 2012 model year? Our source says so it doesn't step on the toes to the convertible which will be the Camaro's "big news for 2011."

I like the Camaro exactly the way it is. Classy. Beautiful. Fast.

That article was posted verbatim on the gminsider blog that camaro5 loves so much. The folks over there ate it up; 5 pages of responses and not one skeptic.
I'm actually surprised there were only 4 replies to this thread. Hearsay or not, these sort of topics usually bring everyone out.

I love the interior.. Plenty of people have complimented it too. I doubt there will be a wholesale change this early in the production cycle.

I've never gotten why people rip on the interior. I've done filming in the front seat, from the backseat, driven it, pushed every button in it, I love it. I don't see what people hate it so much.
because most only see pictures... it looks off the chain in person! especially when you keep it really clean.

I don't have a problem with my interior either...I just don't like the vanity mirrors,I think GM could've done a better job with'em,but thats a small matter!!!:)

I love the interior. The only thing I wish it had was a place to put my sunglasses so I don't have them sticking up out of the cup holder when I'm not using them and the sunvisor is so thick that my blackberry clip doesn't like to stay on it.

I like the interior, there are a few things I would change, but overall, I'm pleased. Since 2010 is the first model year, I guess I would be surprised if there were no changes made over the next couple of years, and I hope they are for the better.

If I kept waiting for the next best thing, I would simply always be waiting :)

Well if and when it does appear, the wife knows what will be taking up a 3rd spot in the garage!
