All this ad pulling is pure BS. This has gotten way out of hand IMO.
People need to grow thicker skin in this country.
I think it was well needed...
... and it worked well, Imus morning show is gone. :hello:

I can't believe that people would listen to his program and then complain about it's content.

I never listened to his program before and never knew he even existed or made these comments and if some idiots in the media didn't blow it up, hardly anybody else would either.

Personally I wasnt a fan, but that show had a huge fan base.

People need to not be so easily 'offended' when people practice their right to free speech.

I've never hear of him/it before yesterday.

It's sad when grown people revert to petty name calling then hide behind 'Free Speech'... but this is the cost of living in a free country.

I hope you see the connection between what you posted and the fact that the media escalated it solely to drive viewership.

It's also a double standard. The guy is isn't working a news desk he does the Shock Jock thing as entertainment. He gets labeled as a racist because of his remarks. He admitted the joke was in bad taste and it was wrong and apologized.

A rapper calls women B!tches and Hos and uses the 'N' word and yet that is acceptable and they are called entertainers.

They are BOTH wrong in my eyes but one can't be right and another wrong.

ok, sometimes I'm behind on these ever so important issues of the world,, (can you sense the sarcasm?) I had to go find what Imus said. Down here in NO I've heard worse casual conversations from ALL and none of ANY of the guys ever mean anything by it. Sometimes I guess the world needs DRAMA

I think it is equally sad, Bumblebee, when other people use the bully pulpit to silence speech they don't agree with.

So now any radio host that says something offensive is to be fired? That's going to have a chilling effect on free discussion of ideas.

Ultimately the 1st amendment doesn't apply to a private enterprise like a radio station or radio show....CBS is entirely in their right to cancel his show, but I just hate to see it because of the precedent it sets.

I agree what he said was ignorant, but lets vote with our radio dials instead of bringing in Jesse and Al to protest and force sponsors to drop their support. Let Imus's rating go into the toilet and then we can say the market has spoken and your product has been rejected.

I don't like Howard Stern...I think he is a smut broker....so guess what? I don't listen, and even if I did I am not offended, because being offended is a choice I make for myself..nobody else controls me or forces me to feel this way or that. You also don't see me protesting Stern and trying to get his show kicked off the air.

I don't agree with Imus at all, but the bigger issue for me now is that the censorship crowd won and certain kinds of speech are now off limits. If its this kind of speech today, then tomorrow what kind of speech is it going to be?

The thing is this is being lead by Al Sharpton..hes dragging this to no end.
What Imus said sure is wrong. But the way Sharpton puts it is making him out o be a member of the KKK.
If anyone needs to go for the betterment of the whole human race it is Al Sharpton. He is one of a few that bring little comments like this to a whole new level. Need I go on about how he has talked about whites? or how he has not said sorry for crucifying the Duke players for raping that girl. Then the charges are dropped. But he had her on a pulpit demanding justice for African Americans against rich white people. Do we hear a sorry from him??
Nope. There is a double standard for the country. But it is the select few that view Al Sharpton as a leader of a movement that has moved on from where it was 50 years ago. But try telling that to the Rev. He thinks there still is segregated bus' in the U.S.??
Guys got no clue and this world would be better off without him.

And Imus was a dope too...not saying hes any better..

Sharpton has a long history with Jesse Jackson. Does anyone remember how Sharpton first got into the spotlight? With a lie from a tramp in NYC who claimed she was attacked by police officers and some other white men and later admitted it was all a lie. Sharpton does nothing but promote racism IMO.
