short story.

my 2011 camaro convert. 2ss/rs has 12,500 miles and has been to the shop 4 times to fix the top.. and going the 5th time monday.. garage kept..

from the sqweaky top to leaking to rub marks.. all that has been fixed new top and water mang. system etc.. one thing they cant fix correctly is the fabric coming apart above the rear quarter glass on both sides.. they use vw clips to keep it put.. that lasts only a month before im driving down the road and poof the fabric comes apart and wind and a bubble form on the top. well my dealer subs out the car to a top shop here in houston.. everytime it has come back with scratches they last time was actually deep scratch where you can see someone filled in with maybe a paint pen?? idk.. right near the rear quarter glass.. on top of that the two times the car went in with water on the floor boards it was never shampooed or replaced.. never.. he says oh it doesnt smell now.. its all dry.. no really?? it gets about 120+ in the car in summer here... moron!!! .

now i filed with gm and thats a pure run around.. from one specialist to another.. they want to give me 2000 incentives to trade in.. thats not even enough.. i tried.. why should i foot the bill for a faulty car??? i love gm always have but the is rubbing me the wrong way... then i got a call monday from this specialist and he says im sorry that 2000 isnt enough he has done some numbers and gm will help get out of my car.. im like great yes!!!! this is awesome.. i feel all good and bubbly.. he says i call you thrusday with details and updates.. he calls thrusday with the same 2000. or some other warranty.. i said what happen to helping me get out?? he says the dealer isnt going to help me.. im like the dealer?? why them? its a gm problem??? now im on to a new specialist... wow..

sorry so long.. i probably missed some other things that makes this worse but thats the short story.. does anyone think im being over the top? and should just take what they offer and keep taking my car back over and over.. 44k car.. thanks :5go:

You can bring it to the dealer a 1000 time's, they'll never fix it . It's rare that a vert doesn't leak, make noise, doesn't show wear . The only way it can be fixed, is to get a coupe .

javi05, that sucks and I feel for you.... It always amazes me that we have "Customer Support" right here on MC, and they chime in from time to time..... But in all honesty and reality, what can and more importantly, what do they do?!?

On almost every issue, they will chime in and say something along the lines of; do you want us to schedule an appointment with the dealership, or would you like us to contact the dealership..... ect. But in all reality, what have they supported, resolved, or fixed.

I'm dying to hear them chime into this thread and take this to the GM Executives to resolve this situation. This is unacceptable in my opinion!

If it's just the fabric top that's giving you trouble then why can't they just replace the top? Try to get some info regarding the lemon law.

they did.. brand new fabric.. looks great also.. but it wont stay in place after a month or so.. with that fabric coming apart there lets wind and water if its raining in.. so they cant tell me it doesnt affect the cars value etc...

i have filed with the BBB yesterday right after i got of the phone with gm's bulls*it answer..

Your deductions about GM's Customer Service were arrived at by me two years ago. It's bad enough that you are going through what you are but there's nothing worse than being given empty promises. I'm very sorry to hear that your having to go through this...but the next step for them (in my experience) will be rude behavior, trying to force you into accepting an unacceptable arrangement and when you don't do that...they will abruptly close your case and no longer return your calls. Although my case was a little different in that my dealership was the one that created the problem...not GM...I still received NO SUPPORT from GM even though I was able to prove that criminal activity was involved...and the way their customer service division treated me was inexcusable.

Sorry to hear about your issues. I wish you were in Michigan. I had a really bad seat belt problem with my truck a couple years back. My father has been a Sr Design Engineer for GM ever since I can remember. Anyhow, with his connections, all of the Engineers from the seat belt group took my vehicle into their tech center and tested it for a week.

If you were in Michigan I could have connected you with the engineers that designed your top. I'm happy they transferred the Camaros to Lansing from Canada as I now have a Camaro myself.

GM's customer service is SO lacking, I was actually toying with the idea of buying a Challenger.

Then I came to my senses and decided to go with a new Camaro thinking GM changed after the bailout.

What is going on??? My old signature block is back. WTF???

I went from a 2010 Camaro to a 2012 Challenger and now back to 2013 Camaro. Challengers are nice but not the same once you have driven a Camaro. I liked all the extra room in the Challenger but the speed and handling of the Camaro wasn't there. Also the quality of the sheet metal especially on the roof of the Challenger sucked. It would develop small dents over time for absolutely no reason. They would enlarge over time too. I am glad to have a new Camaro again.

I hope you get some kind of satisfaction from GM in regards to your convertible top situation. They need to step up and either buy you out or totally replace all the mechanical parts along with the fabric on your top. There is no excuse for this to happen this many times and for them not to totally take full responsibility and make you whole again.

Good luck.

javi05,

You may have brought to their attention a design flau that could cost GM some big bucks to correct. If you are contacted you might consider asking for a new car replacement at no cost to you. Like an even trade.

Funny story......... Still waiting for our "Customer Support" to chime in. I find it ironic that they haven't said a word.

Go figure.

OH THEY HAVE READ IT... i have three case numbers.. the car is at dealer right now getting scratches fixed and top re-lubed i guess.. top had multiple wrinkles, fabric is loose and starting to show new rub marks in new places.. gm bbb service has not called me today either.. imo it looks and seems like gm is trying to blame my dealer for not fixing it correctly.. imo its not the dealers fault.. they have done everything (except my carpet) to the full extent.. this is a gm problem that i have tried to let them fix.. they also said that it cant just be top problems. it has to be the same top problem each time.. not different problems with the top.. i give those vw clips one month and they will be loose also.. that would be 3 times back for the same reason.. but there is a catch to that also.. does it affect value and operation of the car.. imo yes it does.. in their eyes it doesnt.. FML... Their fix is for me just to keep taking it back over and over and over again.. thats what they want me to keep doing.. what a waste of time.. there is no way im going to pay 100 more a month on a new camaro if i trade in... they said well get a 2ss coupe none 1le.. so pay more for a cheaper car because this camaro's top is a POS.. wow..
