My only question is...does it help down force / is it functional?
The use of a high wing spoiler should create some downforce at speeds in excess of 70 mph. However...because a car is rigid...the down force created will give the front end lift and therefore reduce control and stability at higher speeds. A front splitter and side skirts are needed to counteract the lift created by the wing or it is probably doing more harm than good.

glued to the road? how do you know that? you wouldnt be able to tell the down, from a "feeling", until you starting taking turns at those high speeds. but if i remember correctly the ground effects were functional. not sure about the wing. but im sure if it was designed when the ground effects were, that it is functional....unlike the mail slot on the SS bumper.
I have had my camry to 116 and I could hear a lot of road noise and didn't feel safe.
the camaro I did change lanes.

The high wing was planned from begining like the ground effects.

Cool, I appreciate it Envy :).
Stupid question. Can you point me to a splitter and side skirts that might be functional also?
Not a stupid question at all. Personally I think the GM Ground Effects package is the best quality and best compliments the lines of the Camaro. But there are many choices out there and many satisfied customers/advocates of each. I did buy the Street Scenes GFX package first to save money. But I was very disappointed by their quality and returned them. Then I ponied up the extra $$$ for the GM kit and have never regretted it.

But I do agree with OverAnxious on the point that the GM High Wing Spoiler and all the spoilers on the market for that matter are purely cosmetic. They aren't designed properly to be truly effective. A wing needs to be mounted higher and back farther to function properly with the airflow coming off the roof. And all the current spoiler styles...including mine...meerly deflect air and create drag which actually reduces gas mileage.

If you want a truly functional high wing spoiler for your Camaro...here's the Camaro SSX Concept with a GM researched and tested FUNCTIONAL HIGH WING SPOILER. (And note the GM GFX package is included on the SSX)

Looks great on the track, but terrible on a street car. Remember the 2000 Mustang Cobra R :lol:

Now I'm a Mustang fan...but that poor little thing looks pathetic from any angle. And sadly...that spoiler is the least of it's problems...lol. But I have seen high wing spoilers on street cars that didn't look terrible. This one comes to mind...

It appeared to be a "one-of-a-kind" fabrication to me.

I actually looked into a custom fabricated spoiler when I couldn't get the GM High Wing that was featured on the SEMA SGM Camaro. The cost was quoted at $800-$1000 (and everything always cost more than they say it will...lol) plus I choose to buy a new deck lid (I wanted to preserve my Synergy Package)...so by the time both were painted...it was just more than I was willing to spend. This is why I settled on the Havoc Rear Spoiler for Envy and I'm am still very glad that I did. :D
