SEMA

1. Do you have appropriate credentials? You cannot walk up and by a ticket. It is not open to the public.

2. Have a plan. There are multiple buildings and numerous rows in each building. No plan = not seeing everything.

3. Plan on getting there when they open, and leaving when they close. It is a full day! If you are not used to walking alot, start now to build your endurance.

4. Either have something to carry "stuff" in (posters/fliers) or do not pick stuff up. You will get a card with your credentials that you can "swipe" and get on every mailing list. Leave that card in your hotel room. (I was on the mailing list for a long time.)

5. Leave "mailing card" in your hotel room. See above.

6. Bring digital camera, extra "media cards" and extra batteries. You will need them.

7. Know how to use said camera. There will be more cars and more women to take pictures of. Your pic estimate in the OP is way too LOW.

8. You will spend all day in "wheels and tires".

9. Smile when you take a picture and be mindful of your hands. A picture lives forever - or until you delete it!

10. Traffic getting into and out of the convention center is a nightmare. Leave early. Tip - park at the Sarhara and walk down.

Vegas

1. Double down on 11.

2. Split aces and eights.

3. Make reservations now for dinner on the strip.

4. PM me for several places to eat not on the strip.

5. Did I mention to double down on 11? (Must be the degenerate gambler in me.

6. Tip everyone. No tip = bad karma!

Enough with the lesson. Where are you staying? Are you bringing the future Mrs. Octane with you? Is she prepared for the "strippers", ah I mean, "spokesmodels" in the boothes?

PM with some details. I am in Vegas 3-4 times a year. I have a buddy who is a metro cop, so if I know where you are staying, I can get you some "short-cuts" through town. I know all the good places to eat - knew that before he was a cop!

Enjoy.

Oh, I forgot ...

You suck! :p

I had to cancel my trip. I am traveling the following weekend to South Bend for a wedding, and need to take 2 days off from work. I could not pull off two days off in two consecutive weeks.

Unfortunately I am making this trip alone.
Getting on a plane by myself does not excite me lol.

I got approved for a media pass, so I'm set there. :)

I have no real game plan as of yet.
But I do plan to walk into the place and go  "HOLY ****" and gawk for a few minutes. :D
I also plan on wearing out my camera and having to charge all 4 sets of batteries every night.

I'm staying at Excalibur.
Parking is a non-issue because I won't have a car and will be traveling via Monorail.

I am going to try not to gamble away my life savings.

Tim you should have a GREAT time........I am jealous :) Do please get lots of pictures. The monorail system is a great way of getting around in Vegas.
If I were going I would take a certain amount and whatever I win I would put to the side and gamble with what I took then stop when its done lol
Bring back what I Won.

You get to see the CAMARO SCOTTY Camaro before CAMARO SCOTTY.

Life isn't fair.
Wow even Eric doesnt have his own edition Camaro

Enjoy it, My Dad and I were lucky enough to go in 2006, spent three awesome days with my Dad in Vegas, we got to meet George Barris, Chip Foose,Gene Winfield, Boyd Coddington,Mike Lavalle...teh coolest thing was we arrives early the second day, we tugged on the doors not realizing it didnt open for another hour or so, then an older security guard opened the door, looked at our tags, and let us in,we had exibitor tags from a supplier I deal with, so there we were walking around SEMA an hour early, so we stumbled upon Chip Foose doing a commercial with the Hemisfear, so we stoof there for a minute and when he was done, he stood there and chatted with us for a few minutes, we walked around the corner, and there was Barris at the Hot Wheels booth, so my Dad walked up to him and was chatting old school body work, George reached into his pocket, gave my Dad a card, and says, call me sometime....I think my dad almost fell over, it was an AWESOME experiance!
