Just read through the "Official Rules" of the 2009 Bumblebee Camaro Sweepstakes and GM says the ARV of a 2009 Bumblebee Camaro is $40000. It then says that this number is based off the expected MSRP of the base Camaro. More later when I get home.

I know they are not expecting to sell 100k Camaros with a base price of $40k

I think they based the value of the prize off the forcasted price of the base Camaro. Not the same as the price of the base Camaro, but the base price is used to determine the value of this special edition Camaro.

Looks like there is plenty of room to dispute any tax burden of the base Camaro MSRP.

Worst case sceanario: You can sell it if you like for cash and claim a capital loss of the difference of the $40k as well.

Keep in mind the "$40,000" would have to include any customization and added value of it being a "Bumblebee Replica."

I hope so. I thought about it some more and I was thinking that the price might be that of a fully equipped model. But 09 is 14 months away and anything is possible between now and then.

BTW: thanks guys for posting the rules and info from the website. IE at school kept crashing everytime I tried using it.

Here's something to think about. The BB Camaro is listed as 40k, take into account what's already been said, very limited edition, special paint job(which I agree should come in probably close to 10k give or take, probably every option possible. Take all that away and I'm thinking our v-8 Camaro'll come in even with a few options below to just above 30k. What do you think??

Thats what i was thinking too, 40k for a BB doesn't even sounds that bad either.. if they make that into a actual special edition i think id get one.. kinda how mustangs have like 20 different SE cars.

Well, the real BumbleBee paint job was more than 10k i'm sure. I doubt it will be an exact match, or with as many layers. However, 40k for BumbleBee.... Mmmmm, i'll get back to you on that one.

and yet this is still all speculation. no one knows for sure what the sticker will be, but some people just can't resist jumping the gun. it's not going to be 40k, that is one thing i can guarantee. GM isn't that stupid. but a fully equipped (V-8, power everything, auto, Z-28 or SS) model coming in around 35k (5k for the paint)? sounds reasonable. anyone remember chicken little?

What do you base that on? Is that what the CF4 was basically going for?
