I recently had my drive shaft come off, went to the dealer and found out it was an aftermarket shaft so nothings covered by warranty, now I'm trying to find a stock DS. Can't afford another aftermarket DS at this time so now I'm trying to figure out what the difference between an automatic and an M6 DS? Are they interchangeable? Sorry if this has been covered somewhere I've searched all over but can't find anything.

They are NOT interchangeable. The M6 trans has a much longer tailshaft housing.... You should post up which one you need and maybe you can find someone locally with one. I have a low mile A6 unit but shipping could be a bit costly....

Maybe the shaft is under warranty from the mfg'er. Some have lifetime warranties... Is it marked as to who made it? They like to know when something fails to help improve their product. it is worth a shot...

Thanks for the quick reply. The shaft is from The Driveshaft Shop, atleast that's what the dealer told me, I haven't gone and checked how bad it looks yet. I just had it towed to the garage I usually use the other day.

Hmmm, Franks' stuff is high quality! I am running his 1-piece CF unit in mine (putting down 580/575 at the wheels!) without any probs.

He is a standup guy, I would def call him.

I'm running a carbon fiber driveshaft from The Driveshaft Shop in my Twin Turbo V-6 Camaro and 33,000 miles later not even the hint of a problem. I have tall gears in a Hammerhead differential and it is as smooth as glass at all speeds. The highest of quality.
