HID headlights

I noticed that the 2008 Mustang has HID headlights available OEM. Is this the first year for this on a production Mustang? I think this give a better chance that the Camaro will have that option.

Check out the window sticker HID $525

I hope the new Camaro comes with HID's, I've wanted them for along time, and I really don't want to do some crappy retro fit..

considering the Mustang now comes with em, and the Corvette comes with em as an option, the General will see the demand and put them on the new Camaro

Oh and 500 dollars is a REALLY good price for a factory HID set up, I'm used to seeing factory optioned ones go for around 1k-2k

Did they say $50 for a wheel locking kit?
Whew, $525 for HIDs! Wow.
I bet Chevy can do better ones for cheaper. :D
So are HIDs new for 2008 for that car?
a: optional on the mustang ($525 as mentioned)
b: HIDs are the only lights available on the C6 (not optional) (and were not available on the C5)

c: comfortably optioned, a mustang now costs $30k. For that change (and admittedly on the upcoming 'maro), unless you really need the back seats for people youd be better off with a 2yr old vette for the extra 5k. 100 horses, better looking, better turning, better riding, better cargo room, better looks, better mileage, better range, better stares, removable top...
You said better looking twice. Also, you aren't going to get a C6 for $35,000, at least not one in good shape. You can get a good C5 for that money, but now you are talking an LS1 or LS6, which an LS3 soundly trumps. The Vette will still have weight and possibly handling on the Camaro, looks are totally subjective, I can almost garuntee the new Camaro will garner more looks and stares than a 5 year old C5 when it comes out and, bottom line, Camaro guys will buy Camaros and Vette guys will buy Vettes (as long as the price differential is there).
welcome taco mike.

i hope it's an option to tell you the truth. cus that has to go along with performance, and most people out there will buy a base v-6 for it's looks and comfort over the mustang. so being the best priced will tip the scale our ways. anything performance should be an option.

That's one of my top 5 reasons for getting the Camaro. I've got 2 kids, so right now I have to choose which one is my favorite. :)

To answer that question....yes, for the regular mustang models. The Saleen Mustangs of the present model have always had it for an option. Its not noticable between regular and HIDs by looking at the assembly. The Saleen assembly replaces the refective dish, with a identical one but has a new projector added. Nice, actually. I think it retains the original look.

That how I like to see a newbie post. All good points. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks.
No problem. If I coming from the mustang side to the camaro side, I should bring something to the table, right?

Here a pic of the Saleen assembly, the matte silver ring and arm isnt on the regular mustangs.....

i hope HIDs are an option. i am young, but i have bad eyesight. after driving a deville with HID's i fell in love cuz it really made it easier to see at night.
i hope they alre available also. i just like how they look. it would also make money for chevy too, i would pay a decent mark up price for them. and they already have the technology, so i dont see why it wouldnt even be an option
How come the gas mileage sucks so bad on the new mustang (15&23)? Did anyone notice that on the sticker? The 96 B4C Camaro I used to have got better mileage that (17&25)...

Ford modular engines (4.6, 5.4, 6.8) have always sucked on gas mileage. Nothing new. My 2001 is about the same or worse. Plus, its a 5spd (the auto 5spd is worse) and has 3.27 stock gear (vs. vette 2.93 w/m6)
...(vs. vette 2.93 w/m6)
The T56/T6060 vettes have been available exclusively with a 3.43 rear gear. A 2.93 has never been an option (4+3/C4 days perhaps)

My bad, I was looking at the wrong number. I looked at the LS3 C6 Z51 option on the paddle shifted models. Im new too GM world, I have to look up half of the stuff and mis-reading doesnt help.
