Well, the new Camaro was designed from day one to have both coupe and convertible body styles.
I suspect work started on the convertible shortly after the coupe was finished.

Actually now that I think about it I remember hearing one of the designers say that it's been done since November.

If the car looks as good with top up as it does in coupe form, I would bet they were designed at the same time, and finished at nearly the same time. I think they held on to the convertable to keep the hype up for another year until they can show us a production model.

I have no doubt the platform was designed with the convertible in mind, same way it was for the C5 Corvette :D

I'm looking at a Convertbile myself. It also gives them one year to work out a few bugs before one ends up in my driveway

only thing is what if it was a flop..not saying it could have but..you think GM would of had a convert sitting under the tarp for a year and hoping the press eat it up like they did?? Maybee therunning gear but not the panels and the interior?? Could it be a line of the same drivetrain and maybee we will see the GTO on a similar chassis set up for next years NAIAS??
