I am new to the forum just wanted to say hello.

I reserved my spot on the list 2 weeks ago for my camaro. Cannot wait for it to get here. I am number 2 on the list and have a purchase agreement with the dealership saying that I will pay MSRP. I have heard a couple stories about people getting on the list for more. That is insane.

Good Luck to all!!!!

The list to order. Each dealership will get a selected amount of the new camaros. Sounds like 2 or 3. I have one of them and another local guy that I know has one. So when they get to order the cars I will order what I want and the other guy will order what he wants. If they get three then great. If not we both still recieved ours. If they only get to order 1 I get the next when it is time. See what I mean?

Considering the Camaro will be mass produced, not limited numbers like the Challenger, I don't see each one getting only 2-3 cars.

Good luck with 'the list' :D

I'll wait to see if there are bugs to work out. putting my name on a list when they will be mass produced starting in Jan , you will pay several thousand more than if you wait a few months. gm is saying they will produce enough so there wont be a mark up thats what iam waiting for!:roxor::patriot:

Why are you paying MSRP?
...and why would you put your name on a list before you know what's being produced? You don't even know what engines there will be.

I REALLY, REALLY want one of these cars, and I will be chomping at the bit, but there's no way I'm paying MSRP or signing up for anything from anyone right now.

I didn't know that this would be a pound fest but ok?

Some people will bank on the fact that the "mass" production will be enough to get 20-30 cars on each lot. Not likely. For the sake of conversation lets say that the dealerships end up with 10. For the hipe and it being the latest and greatest people will pay MSRP. Me being one of them.

I think it is commical that people say that they will go to the dealership and pay invoice for a car that has been and will be built up more and more for the next 2 years. If you want to wait that is your choice. If you cannot afford to put out $500 for a deposit on a car I can understand that. Don't post on here about all the negatives. It is not needed.

I am fine with paying Manufactures Suggested Retail Price for a Camaro. I have no problem waiting to SEE what my options are. I sold my '69 to be able to buy this car with cash.

Sorry to all the people who seem to think I am an idiot, but when you are sitting at a stop light looking at the new camaro next to you while you drive your escort think of me!!!

Don't worry Ryan. This site is filled with a wide range of young, middle age and older folks that are all car crazy in their own way. Some of the younger ones definately lack the style for criticism and put it right out there without thinking of the reaction it will cause, or say what they say, just to do that, get a reaction! It's all in fun and you have to take it for what it is. I've been a teacher for 30 years and have seen all types of students and their parents and this is pretty much just a big classroom full of all types of entertaining car crazies from all walks of life, along with some low lifes too! The world would be pretty boring without them to entertain us. Glad you are on a list and I hope your dream comes true. There is nothing wrong with fantasizing to get your dream and making it somewhat tangible with a deposit. With the ecconomy the way it is right now, I would bet that there won't be as many rolling out the first year as some of this forum are predicting, but I could be wrong and hope I am. Welcome aboard! And to all you disruptive students out there, take note, I am keeping tabs on your actions and taking notes!!! Hopefully you won't be going to the principal, Mr. Octane!!!! I hear he is a real gas! sorry, had to do some lame attempt at humor here.....:roxor:

I'm not bashing anyone. I just want to know why you committed so early in the process. I think it's cool that you can afford to pay a deposit now, and that you can trust a dealership so much.

Here's my 2 cents.

I don't trust dealerships for nothing. They are good for selling cars.....that's it. Before I put a deposit on anything, I need all the info...(colors, engines, pricing, etc.) If that means I have to wait until 2010 or 2011......so be it.

If everything goes as planned and they start building in oct 08 as a 2010 model, there will be plenty built. I'm not paying MSRP or the adjusted market value or whatever else they may try to pull. There are many dealers out there wanting to make a sale. I say good luck to everyone with buying this new toy.

It is going to be a long wait but it is good to see that there are other people out there that are as excited about the car as I am.

Thanks to all of you that keep this site fun and entertaining.

Welcome to the forum. I hope your car is everything you want it to be. that would really suck if you put a deposit on something that was less then your dream. Happy Holidays.
