Alright. So we know this beast is going toe-to-toe with the Mustang, Challenger, and even possibly the CTS-Coupe. But what else will it be slamming up against? In this article I'm going to detail current or future cars that the Camaro will be competing with, just to give us a general idea. My criteria is as follows, and will be divided in to two sections.

Critera -
RWD
2 Doors
Manual \ 6-speed auto
V6 or V8
Some exceptions may be made for extremely powerful four-door saloons.

Let's get started, shall we? First off, we have the Nissan 370Z -

Drive - Left
Wheels - RWD
Doors - 2
Transmission - 6-speed manual or auto

While Nissan hasn't confirmed this yet, the vehicle is out there. There have been extensive sitings of it around the Nurburgring, and just a day or so ago, interior shots were captured. Following Nissan's typical idea with this car, it will borrow the high-end Infiniti version of the VQ V6, also found in the G37. Estimates on this vehicles power are ranging from 350 to 380 at the crank for the moment. Pricing hasn't been announced, but it should be close to the current 350Z, as that's what it will be replacing; so expect a base of around 28k. The spy shots are located here - http://www.autoblog.com/photos/nissan-370z-spy-shots/1085272/

Feel free to add any other car you can think of that fits the criteria that is coming to market. RWD isn't a must, but it is preferred.

Have you guys learned NOTHING from spy shots ^^^^ :rotflmao:

personally, I have always liked the Z, I was tempted to get one late 06, but LUCKILY I quit my job (due to school) so money was tight. I got my sense kicked in and decided on delayed gratification :D in the form of a 2010 Camaro ;)

On topic, rumor has it the G37 is actually a bit slower than the G35 :p ! Maybe that says something about the 370Z, maaaaybe it doesn't. All we can do is wait, but honestly I still like the Z's

The G35 does weigh more, by about 120 pounds. It comes in at 3750, whereas the G35 came in around 3600. I admit that this is one of the largest competitors for Camaro sales from the Asian market. And let's not forget Hyundai (Never thought I'd say that in the same paragraph with performance cars..), and their Genesis Coupe, making 310 hp on a RWD V6 also.

I personally prefer AWD to RWD, but...

I think the Camaro is going to do RWD better than its competition. Look at it this way. Camaro is most like going to be more fuel efficient than a 370Z or Genesis Coupe as well as faster and it's going to be more original looking.

If we had to judge this Nissan against the Camaro on just styling alone, the Chevy wins by a freakin' MILE! That thing is HIDEOUS.

as mentioned before, a definitely good competition would be the Hyundai Genesis 2009.

Genesis offers two engines: a 290-hp 3.8-liter V6; and a 375-hp 4.6-liter V8. Both engines team with a 6-speed automatic transmission that has a manual shift gate. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, front side airbags, and rear side airbags.

MSRP around 30k starting to 40k

Today HyundaiHyundai finally took the wraps of its all-new 2010 Genesis Coupe. There have been so many photo leaks of the car, but now we finally got to see the final car in person and we have all the specs.

The Genesis Coupe will be offered in three trims, the GS with a 2.0L turbocharged engine with up to 223 hp, the GT with a 3.8L V6 with up to 310 hp, and the SE model which is available with either the 4-cyl or V6 engine. Both engines are mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission. The 2.0L engine has an optional five-speed automatic and the 3.8L is offered with an optional six-speed auto. Of course the exciting news is that the Genesis Coupe sends all of its power to the rear wheels and to bring all that power to a halt the SE features standard Brembro brakes.

18" alloy wheelshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alloy_wheel are standard and 19" wheels are standard on the SE. Hyundai also claims that the Genesis Coupe weighs less than an Infiniti G37.

Pricing has yet to be released, but according to Hyundai execs the coupe will be the lowest priced 300 horsepower coupe on the market when it is released early next year.

oh, and on a more serious note, i think the BMW M3, Jaguar XKR, certain Mercedes Benz's and Audi's, and if they sell LHD like they've been talking about, it'll join a musclecar war going on in Australia and New Zealand between Ford and Holden

of course performance wise competition for the pricier one's

On the note of the Genesis, I think it could be something to that.

The car besides being a hyundai and boring looking, both powertrains seem promising. From a performance standpoint the base turbo 4 seems to be the best bet, even thought they intend the V6 to be the top model. Those turbo 4 models will probably be there surprising a few folks. Basic upgrade could have that car run pass the V6 model, and a turbo upgrade.....prolly running next to us.

Im surprise Toyota has tried or played with the idea of making a RWD coupe that uses there 5.7 V8 engine in it, to test the waters. Hell they put themsleves into Nascar, it strange that they dont try to jump completely into the american pie.

That Genesis coupe is sure boring. Nothing like the concept version I saw a while ago. At least you could say it's a sleeper...a very, very deep sleeper.

Uh, GXP? Modded G8s that will be looking for kills. Imagine being out in your new SS and a 4dr car beats you. The Hyundai is a joke! 0-60 in 5.9! hahaha
I see trucks faster then that! If I wanted a 4.6 DOHC, I would buy a terminator Cobra.
