Please someone tell me I'm wrong. My understanding is that RIGHT NOW the dealer can only pre-order cars for a person (you, me, whomever). HOWEVER, sometime between now and December when our orders are actually "dropped" to the factory, the regular order system will be available for the dealers to order their own (lot) cars like they do with every other vehicle right now. When that happens, can the dealers simply push our orders back and order a few for themselves first?

I think dealers ONLY will get their allocated # of cars...so if they get 7 cars and take orders for 7, they won't get any "lot" cars until later. Plus, from my experience, dealers would rather get a car in that's already been sold than have a car sitting on the lot (not that it would sit too long).

Unfortunately, if your dealer wants to be a scumbag and play the $5k markup game, the only cars they'll be able to do that with are the initial ones. So, given the opportunity to change / delay our priority numbers and get a few in for themselves first.............

OK, I guess I can see that, but I think they only get their allocated # of cars until the 2nd allocation hits...weather it's for "lot" cars or ordered cars. Also, if they REALLY wanted to charge a markup, wouldn't they be doing it from the start?

Exactly, which could seriously screw some people if the dealer has a "low" allocation. I'm still looking for a direct answer, here and on the two other forums, of whether the dealers will be able to order lot cars prior to the date our orders are actually "dropped" in December. If their system opens up prior to our orders being placed, it could be really ugly since we know the dealers can change the priority numbers any time up until the order is actually dropped to Chevy.

Hell not ! They have us locked in at MSRP, right? What are you REALLY going to do if you find out your car will be delayed a few weeks because they ordered two lot cars in front of you? Cancel? I think not. You'll be pissed, but you'll still take the car at MSRP two weeks later and in the meantime, Mr. Chevy dealer makes another 5k in the process.
