I just got my may 07 issue of Hot Rod today. The Cover story reads "Glory Days" and has the Shelby, the Vert concept and the new Viper. Anyway the article reads how Motown Muscle is making a comeback and is giving a breakdown of the new era muscle wars. The part I found interesting is as follows, (I couldn't find the article online yet so I'll just type and quote it)

".......However, GM insiders have blabbed to HOT ROD the range of potential powertrain options for the new Chevy ponycar. There will be two V-6 choices and at least three V-8's, including a 550hp version of the supercharged 6.2L V-8 for a high-content Z28 model. Sources say there will be two base V-8's, one stick and one automatic, both of them over 400 hp."

A 550 hp Supercharged Z28? Oh yes make mine black and a vert!:roxor:

Sounds great is it 2009 yet.
Hot Rod does alot of "guessing" in this issue.
They say the 'vert weighs 3750lbs, probably a little high.
They also say it has black stripes... they are gunmetal, not black!
They also say the concepts have a 6.2L LS2... it's 6.0L!

They really should at least make an attempt at getting facts straight before publishing an article with errors like that.

You really think 3750 lbs for the vert and 3650 for the coupe is a little high? If so, then that will be wonderful, but i just have a hard time believing that the coupe will come in under 3600 lbs... simply due to cost restraints.
550 HP!! That sounds good to me! but who knows how accurate this info actually is. I can only hope it is.
550 is a great start!

The stripes look black to me too, I can see them saying that

Regardless, we should always take articles like this with a grain of salt

Regarding a Z28 - that would be the best RPO for the top of the line Camaro for sure :roxor:
I definately don't hold it as truth as you can notice in the wording they didnt say anything too concrete. Notice the "potential" in reference to the V-8's. But I do hope however they are close.:D
Yeah, the stripes do look black, so I can see that.

But if they would've perhaps glimpsed at the GM press release or the press kit, the colors are identified.

Truth 1

True - those guys survive on pure speculation anyway, the press kit has too many facts for them
Seems to give a little insight into the badging.

high end z-28 make mine an orange vert please
Black 550hp Camaro SS .... pretty intense... probably be like 100,000$ Canadian -_-

Na, it will probably be about $42,000 (assuming they stick with their "it will be within a few hundred of a comparable Mustang" promise) which means that would be somewhere around $49,000 Canadian....
I shopped a fully loaded 2002 TA back in '02 and it was listed @ 52 + change and I could have had it for a mere
49 even plus taxes .
I shopped a full load Camaro SS as well and it came in @ 48 plus plus.

High 40's today sounds like a bargain for the top of the line 5th gen all things considered.

ya that only be like base V8 not the crazy ass 550hp V8. I dont think GM will b offering a car with supercar performance under 50.000 Canadian. But if they do it will be amazing!

We still got another year:BangHead:
