Basically, we will turn this thread into the "best" fuel-injected Camaro. What do you have experience with? What did you like/dislike about it? How does an 82 Z28 with a LU5 stack up against an 02 Z28 with a LS1? If anyone has questions about past Camaros, ask them here. Maybe we can all learn something.

Fuel Injected Camaro Specs
LU5 - '82-'83 Cross Fire Injection 305ci 175hp/250tq
LB9 - '85-'92 Tuned Port Injection 305ci 230hp/300tq (some may not know that TPI was designed specifically for the 305)
L98 - '87-'92 Tuned Port Injection 350ci 245hp/345tq (not the same as Corvette L98; RPO code B2L denotes cast heads versus Corvette aluminum)
L03 - '88-'92 Throttle Body Injection 305ci 170hp/255tq
LT1 - '93-'97 350ci 305hp/335tq* (285hp/325tq Z28)
LS1 - '98-'02 346ci 325hp/350tq* (310/340tq Z28)
L99 - '10+ 376ci 400hp/410tq
LS3 - '10+ 376ci 426hp/420tq
All numbers listed are the best of all years the engines were available.
*does not include optional SLP content or dealer special editions (GMMG, THR, etc)

For those who haven't any clue what is going on:

HBZ28 has argued that his 170hp 305 TBI (L03) is better and more powerful than the "325" hp LS1 found in the 4th gen Camaro. Anyone have anything to offer, state it here.

Can we the LB9 into since it has TPI but it's a 305?
I'm not sure what you're saying. I figured we can include all the fuel injected engines versus the L03 since HBZ28 is saying that the L03 is better than all.

I've updated the first post to reflect each engine and its power. Maybe we can actually get some useful information from this.

I thought I remembered reading that the TPI was originally for the 350. Hmmm, I'd like to know more about the origins of the TPI.

Yes please add the 305 tpi 5spd LB9 as it was better than the 350 anyways. he he

HBZ28 has argued that his 170hp 305 TBI (L03) is better and more powerful than the "310" hp LS1 found in the 4th gen Camaro.
Hum, i think its called evolution. He must be smoking crack.

As you can see how late I posted that last night I don't remember what I was thinking.

2003 camaro should of been ls2 but oh well.

Never saw this thread. LO3 = best motor ever produced by GM. My buddy has an LO3 in his pickup, he towed a 20,000 lb. trailer across the state. He only has a half ton pickup! He roasted his transmission, but the motor was fine, of course...

I know several people with tbi Camaro's that have more than 250k and have not been rebuilt. I know a guy who currently has 295k on his LO3 RS Camaro.

One, they are super reliable. Two, they get superb gas mileage, I've seen 30 highway in mine. Three, they can make a TON of power with little money. Heads, cam, exhaust, intake, you have LS1 numbers. There is a guy who has a 305tbi running 9's (in the quarter, NOT 1/8) on TGO.

IMO, LS1 sucks.

I'll have to call BS on this one. Theres alot more to it than that. Also, a stock LS1 is rated at 310fwhp. That's alot of money into an LO3 to get to that number.

And I've never seen this 305tbi 9 second Camaro on TGO. Could you please post the link?

I've known people that got **** near 30MPG out of a LS1..and it was still twice as powerful as a L03.
I got 30 on a trip from cental PA to Youngstown several years ago in my '01 Z28.

If the L03 were so great, they would still be producing it. There is a reason why it was dropped after '92.
