I guess it will compete with GM's V8 in the SS Camaro. Ford is working on the 'Coyote', and Chrysler is working on the 'Phoenix'. Now all GM needs to do is pick a random animal name for a new engine. 0_o

nice i wonder how much the new stang will weigh?
I'm bettin' it's going to get heavier...closing the weight gap between the 'stang and the Camaro.

It'll be lighter than the Camaro.
oh, I'm sure...but maybe not by all that much...and it'll probably still only have a 5 speed/solid rear. not to mention those pretty little horses.

What did Ford and Dodge do, blueprint a LS and then change a few measurements to copy it?

I know that is what Dodge did, but now Ford?

isn't the LS OHV cam in block and according to this this is DOHC.I know with the valve covers and the intake it DOES look ALOT like an LS but I think that's where the similarities to the LS stop

Its still a DOHC engine. But its different from the current Ford Modular family of engines. Basically from what i understand, trying to compare this engine with the current lineup is like trying to compare a LT1 with a LS1.

The Block casting, the head casting, and intake design is all different.

I think if Ford was to borrow an idea from someone, it prolly be from the Lexus ISF. The ISF uses a 5.0L but makes good power. Ford seems to be trying to make bigger power from smaller displacement again without SC.

yes jinx you're right the IS-F does make good power(414 I believe) which is close to the 422 the Camaro is making with a 6.2Litre.Looks like if Ford gets the weight right, the power to weight ratio of the mustang would be better than the camaro's

Dude, don't even try to call me out on something that I was joking about.

Secondly, why don't you go swing on someone else's nuts over at Camaro5.com?

The sky is not falling over here.

I am not sure what Lexus 5.0 L has to do with ford, seeing that they had a 5.0L in their lineup before Lexus was even a brand.

ok Stevie Wonder......can't you see the similarities(DOHC 32V 5.0Liter V-8)
secondly I never mentioned anything about the sky falling

Third since I'm not going to Camaro5 I will remain Loyal to 5GO

I was merely suggesting that the Coyote prolly has more in common with the Lexus 5.0L than the LS and HEMI series engines in terms of design (DOHC, VVT, small displacement, and power output).

I'm guessing it to be at least 200lbs lighter than the Camaro. I would also venture it to get the TR6060, but keep the solid axle (which I prefer because I'm "old-school", or something).

I'm excited because it gives me all the more reason to modify the Camaro. Competition is good :D

I wish the LT1 and LS1 was a DOHC engine
It would make spark plug changing ALOT quicker and easier at the track!!

Now that makes sense. (I am sure it had nothing to do with the perfect english, spelling or punctuation.)
