looking at doing a cam swap on my SS when it gets here..
what i need to know is what all do I need?
I am hearing that I need to swap the lifters, cause the stock lifters back on # 7 and 8 wont be able to handle the new cam.
Anybody else heard this?
also I am being told that I need to swap the cam gear to an LS7 gear because the Camaro LS3 will need to be set up for this..
I am looking a a pretty radical idle setup, and have installed cams before..
I just am hearing different things about the cam eating up lifters, and causing major damage if not installed with the correct parts.. on other LS3 because of the offset rockers.

any info on this will be greatly appreciated.

On the LS1 all you needed was dual springs some new retainers, locks, cam, 6-7 quarts of oil, and a little time, and you where good to go...took me a couple of hours, and it was done.

Thanks
Daniel

I would ALWAYS install new lifters w/ a new cam and speak directly to the cam manufacturer and see what they recommend....also get a tune when you're done.

Oh trust me this isnt my first rodeo..
I already have HP tuners, and have tuned my Escalade, and current Z28..
I havnt quite decided on what cam I am going with yet.
It's when I inquired about the cam swap that I started getting different. tid bits of Info, so I thought I would ask here.
I am on a budget, and dont wont to spend the money for a shop to install my goodies, when I am quite capable of installing it my self....
just need to make sure there isn't any discrepancies

That was the Gen IV section. There are plenty who have been swapping LS3's into their vehicles. Maybe check out Corvette Forum for the 08+ cars.
there you go, thats what I was looking for...
That's what I wasn't finding where the 5thG LS3 Info..

Yes the more I am reading the more that you can just swap out the cam, springs, locks, retainers, and pushrods just like an LS1 swap.
It's the L99 that is going to be a much bigger job, as that will have to tear the motor down and get to the Lifters...
