im debating between about 7 other sets of wheels .. alll nice clean 5 poke designs too.. but i will probably get to replacing the wheels in another year or so, there are a few more important projects for hte car (weld up the bolted in sfc's, complete undercoating of the car, driveshaft loop, sway bars, panhard bar, various bushings, lca's, and maybe a 12 bolt rear, which may determine the set of new wheels i'll get) so once some of that is taken care of, i will be getting new wheels
Get the SLP ZR1's. $600 for a set of 4 new. They're a 17x8 wheel, so you could run Eagle F1 All Season 245/45ZR17's on them.

Even some inexpensive ZR1's would help.
nah, i don't like those, everyone does the same old things with these car when it comes to wheels, i have a few sets in mind that will work..

i don't like doing the common wheel looks that people put on these cars, i like things a touch different, as u can see by my stripes, the door ones resemble the factory setup, but in a way are nothing like them too

the zr1's don't have a deep lip, look flat, and look dumpy. just my opinion, but i do appreciate u guys suggesting it. the wheels ain't too bad when i polish them up, i've even won best wheels at 2 local shows so they cant be terrible to everyone.

also, anoooother winter project of mine is to RECONDITION the original IROC wheels, take the old tires off.. use some aircraft stripper, some wetsanding, primer, paint and clearcoat on the old iroc wheels, the buy some new tires. fun easy little winter time project .. soo.. maybe the other rims may not be on the car too much longer either

---- on another note, i agree about keeping the headlight buckets black. it looks better when they are black. like the painter didn't just say ah f' it i am not taking the time to prep or mask off those headlight buckets, i'll just spray the whole piece one color

I dont know about that. Now keep in mind my car is all black, but I like the solid color look of that front end.
I just think it's too much "paint" when they are painted body color. Like IROCZman said, it's like the painter was too lazy, or too ignorant, to paint them black.

As for the ZR1 wheel being too common -- You are correct, but it'd be an inexpensive fix to bring the Camaro up to date.

I mean no disrespect by my next comment, but winning car shows for your wheels does not surprise me. Most of the people judging are simply judging on something totally different, not necessarily the best look. Many aren't even car guys, or they are older, which means that what was possibly hot in the 80's (those wheels) would appeal to them.

Either way, you're on the right track.

Check out the picks of both of my cars, gloss black paint in the headlight buckets is the way to go. The flat black looks OK, but it oxidizes quickly and looks like poo.

IMO, the dated look of the mid 90's Summit ordered CL's doesnt hold up well on a 3rd gen. These cars need a 5 spoke design, similar to what came on them originaly, thats why ZR1 style rimes look great on them. The other style of rim that looks fantastic on a 3rd is a BBS mesh design, similar to the GTA rims. I used to have a BMW 5 series with a " sport package" the rims were BBS mesh, unpainted, machined lip, loved them.

ZR1's look great on these cars. It's the only other wheel I've considered for ol' Project Hugger 3G.

My poor 92 Z28. T-boned a guy in a mini-van who turned left in front of me. 10/16/08. Anything Z28 went into Project Hugger 3G.

:( Now that last pic hurts. Was that an original Heritage car in that color/stripe combo? If so, it would be EXTREMELY rare. More rare than my '92 1LE.

I don't think that is a Heritage Edition car. The grille would of been body-color matched, and the wheels would of had teal accents.

I've never heard of a teal heritage car. I know GM added purple/silver and green/gold as color options a little bit later but I don't think teal/silver.

EDIT: Double checked and that's no heritage edition. Bummer.

i wish they would make some bigger GTA rims.

16's suck. the biggest you can get is a 255, ive never seen anything bigger.
If you got the cash a rim shop can custom make to anything you want..
