I would expect for GM to Price the Camaro as follows:
SS (Auto) L99
SS (6 speed)
I was under the impression none of them will get the gas tax (was brought up last week when all the new info came out)...because of the skip-shift on the M6 and the AFM on the A6.And the L99 gets the gas guzzler tax to make it the same price as the LS3 manuel. This is what they did with the GTO. This is what I am affraid of in pricing. I do not want a V6 so if the V8s are 35k then I am pretty sure I will be buying a used one a year or 2 down the road My problem is I will be upside down in my trade and cannot/will not afford near 40K
TOTALLY AGREE...the info release last Friday was great, but everyone was pissed when nothing new was release yesterday and now...all this worry about prices. I stopped looking at some other Camaro forums because once again "the sky is falling" (usually doesn't fall as much here).See, here's the big problem. They finally confirmed the tech specs (most of them, anyways), so now all we have to worry about is pricing. And we are worried, as you can tell. So now we have 5 months of people putting out price lists that are once again....speculation. I think I'm going to go find Luwinkle, he had the right idea. All this worrying and wondering is driving me crazy.
My money says you're wrong, and at least 3K (hopefully 4K) too high. These prices are not competetive with a challenger or a stang....I would expect for GM to Price the Camaro as follows:
SS (Auto) L99
SS (6 speed)
yeah, but it's basically the same engine (both 6.2L)...and based on those 0-60 and 1/4 times that came out this morning...performance is almost identical as well. The LS3 with the 6 speed manual is going to be a premium since it is the true high performance (corvette style) engine package, I see the L99 as the base SS, less horsepower and more fuel efficient, GM will push this due to EPA regulations.
I think you're just a bit off level here. The base Mustang MSRP is $19735 (http://www.fordvehicles.com/Cars/mustang/). Add around $1000 more for a Camaro and you get a base MSRP of $20735.
So here's the list based off of a 2009 Ford Mustang plus about $1000 at each model level (http://www50.forddirect.fordvehicle...essZipCode=silent&processModel=&statetoken=):
SS A6: $27425
SS M6: $29375
For verts, add about $5000 to each model level. Going by Ford's site, it looks like the RS package is about $1500 and to fully deck out at each level is about $5000.
So for a list complete with packages and options we have:
Loaded Vert: $30735
Loaded Vert: $32735
Loaded Vert: $37425
Loaded Vert: $39375
This is all just speculation and personal opinion at this point. Hopefully this gives you all some idea of the ballpark we're all in.
No. Now you're taking John Fitzpatrick's statement out of context (http://www.5thgen.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7056) Here it is, word for word:Remember GM said that the Camaro would be sold at a premium compared to the Mustang...Compare the real performance and options between the two.
Expect the Camaro to be at least 3K more across the board compared to the Mustang and even more for the luxury and advantage of having a Corvette engine.
I don't know about you, but I do fear the black suburbansJohn Fitzpatrick said:When pricing is announced later this year, you'll find that our price is competitive with comparable Mustangs and Challengers.
