I already have some 1 7/8" longtubes ready to install on my SS. Just waiting to get an exhaust to go with it to install all at once. I decided on the Borla ATAK I thought about going full catback but started thinking about an axleback. What would leaving the H-pipe and the samll LS3 resonators in place do to the sound compared the an X-pipe that would be with the catback? Would the H-pipe sound deeper? Would this axleback with headers still be good and loud with the H-pipe and small LS3 resonators in place? I prefer a deeper sound so if this is what the H-pipe or X-pipe will give me then I will go that route. Any help is greatly appreciated. And Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

it will still be loud no doubt H and X do sound different its really personal preference the X will flow a bit better but I dont think its a huge difference you can get a stainless steel X pipe made by edelbrock for$ 128 from.summit Imo its worth it ill post some sound clips of my car when i get home from work. headers make our cars sound insane my buddy has an a6 with ARH headers with stock exhaust and it sounds great

also your car will be loud with just the axleback with stock everything else

Happy Thanksgiving !!!
So if I were to purchase that X-pipe my high flow cat pipes after my headers would hook up directly to the X-pipe and the ATAK axleback would hook up right to the end of it? Thats it? Basically the catback exhaust but saving like 500 bucks by getting this exhaust pipe?

you will haegv to do some research and it depends on what headers you have most manufactureres sell hi flow cats id check with the header company but the x pipe bolts up to stock manifolds or at least with ARH they sell the short kit which includes cats andbolts right up to stock xhaust which shoud work with the x also

I spoke with Ted from Jannety about the X pipe and he said there was no gains shown with a catback exhaust as all the gains are before the cats. So i am going to leave the H-pipe on after my headers and high flow cats and keep the deeper muscle car tone that it provides compared to the X-pipe. Saved myself a ton of money too.

IMO, you should get the cat-back. just a more complete system and won't require any cutting of the stock system.
Not too worried about that as I am never going to go back to the stock exhaust. I hated how quiet that thing sounded. And after watching god only knows how many videos on youtube I prefer the sound of an H-pipe. And from what many people who know much more than me and sell the products, X-pipe isn't going to do much if anything except change the tone so I will try it out with the factory H-pipe. If I ever want to, I can get the X-pipe and add it on.
